Our Organic Coconut Sugar is made from fresh coconut tree sap, collected from the cut flower buds. The sap is heated to evaporate moisture, resulting in the crystal or granular form of sugar. I love everything about coconut. The reason I decided to try this sugar was because I was using Agave but found out the unhealthy amount of fructose in it (if your unfamiliar there are many articles online about this). This tastes very similiar to brown sugar , maybe with a slight hint of caramel flavor. It's delicious. Additionally, it has the lowest GI of all sugars (including Agave). Nutiva is a great, truthworthy brand and PURE FORMULAS (vender) offered the most competitive pricing on Amazon & the shipped was FAST. (I also use their Chia seeds).

The only con I find is that it's not as sweet as regular sugar, or of course when compared to Agave. But, I've found that it just takes a bit of getting used to when transitioning fm other sweeteners.

Like all of Nutiva's offerings, this is a high quality product. I have been using coconut sugar for over a year now and we love this stuff at our house. We first tried a bag from a health food store and found we preferred it over all other sweeteners and loved the taste. I ordered Madhava Blonde coconut sugar from Amazon in a six bag quantity and enjoyed it for over a year. We used in everything from coffee to baked goods. As I went to reorder, I had a nasty surprise in the price area. It had really increased in price. I started looking for alternative suppliers and I found this one. I thought, wow, I get Nutiva quality at this price - that was a winner for me. I received my order extremely quickly and in perfect shape. This is a quality product from a quality vendor.

Really Good Sugar

I started replacing brown sugar with coconut sugar about a year ago. It has a similar taste but lighter, almost like butterscotch. It's delicious and has a lower glycemic rating that regular sugar. That works for me. Treat it like brown sugar, it hardens the same. I throw a piece of bread to keep it soft or you can buy a brown sugar clay bear. My favorite way to use is in my almond joy biscotti..to die for! Just use a plain Biscotti recipe, substitute the sugar for coconut sugar, add coconut and almonds, dip half in chocolate. **FYI, we're not paying attention to the gycemic index with these babies but they're seriously good.

Delicious, and much better for you than table sugar

This is a wonderful substitute for white, table sugar [sucrose]. Having a glycemic index of 35, it digests more slowly, which allows the body to more readily absorb and use it..as opposed to sucrose - which absorbs too fast for the body [and has a glycemic index of 80-100] . This product tastes good, as well, especially in coffee - which is the main reason I purchased it. Of course, you never want to consume too much of anything, but this product in moderation is a good alternative to white, table sugar. It's not quite as sweet as white sugar, but the taste is very pleasant [and doesn't change the flavor of your favorite coffee enough to make you want a different sweetener.].. It's also good for whatever you want a sweetener for!

I was researching healthy sugar alternatives for a long time before finally deciding to try coconut sugar. Then to pick a coconut sugar product... this was one of the cheapest ones I could find but it was more than a bargain for the price. It went really far while I was baking and was a great substitute. Nobody even knew my goodies were sugar free, let alone made with a sugar that was good for them. A lot of people recommended using coconut sugar to substitute brown sugar but I used it for both brown and granulated, and besides maybe a slight color difference in cookies and my banana bread, you can't taste any difference.

I made healthy cookies for Christmas and I used this sugar in many of my recipes. The sugar worked well in raw cookie recipes and in baked. Regular sugar gives me a headache and makes me sweat or have hot flash about 20 minutes after eating it - - I did not have that reaction with this product. Taste was very good even in raw cookies and did not taste like coconut but tasted sweet. Although this is pricey the sugar stretches a long way, I made about 18 dozen cookies but only used one bag in total.
