How Vacuum Preserves Your Food
Vacuum sealing preserves food by blocking the growth of mold, fungus and bacteria that are responsible for ruining the food taste, appearance and texture.Storage And Organization
Why have big lumps of uneven frozen blocks or half-full food containers that take up a lot of freezer space, when you can neatly stack airtight bags on top of each other?Ideal for Dieting Or Baby Food
Prepare your meals, seal them and freeze them. Ideal for baby food preparation too, especially for working parents with limited time.Easy To Clean
Lightweight and compact, this vacuum sealing system can be placed on any counter top. Its stain resistant housing will not absorb accidental spills, and it is easy to wipe it clean.Suitable For Lots Of Other Uses Too!
Use it to reseal wine, oil and vinegar too. Once the seal is broken, shelf life of most liquids dramatically drops. Using the wine stopper cork included in our starter kit, you can reseal half-full bottles of wine, which if remain unsealed, would probably lose their spirit and end up in the trash can. What’s in the Box:

I was under the impression, from the images, that it had buttons. To my surprise, the buttons are just as touch sensitive as the Google keyboard I'm using on my phone to write this review.
I've always been curious about how these devices worked. There is a small learning curve of about 3 attempts, but that's just to get an idea of how much of a gap you need between the item in the bag and the end of the bag. The instructions are straight-forward but do omit that you need about an inch or so of a gap.
Last thing you want to do is put items in the bag and it ends up not being enough space. But that just takes 1 failure to perfect sealing.
One last more than Worthy of mentioning item is that is does have a few combinations of types of items being put in so that's good, but there's also two options on sealing.
There's "Seal" & "Vac Seal"
Seal is for sealing without the need to vacuum (cut a piece off the roll and need to seal one side before sealing the opposite side, in which would then vac seal)
And Vac Seal is the combination of vacuuming and then sealing. The key note for Vac Seal is that it will make the vacuuming sound, and then silently seal (all sealing is slient). So, after the vacuuming sound stops, pay attention to seal button to turn off. I prematurely open it before realizing that the sealing happens after the vacuuming sound and not during.
That may be somewhere in the instructions, but I'm that dude lol
• Small (about the size of a dozen eggs)
• Economical (uses generic bag material)
In the 48 hours I've owned it. I've packaged up perhaps a dozen food items. The seals all appear to be holding.
I purchased bag material in bulk from Amazon for about 16c/foot (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NCZMQUU/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1), which means the bags cost 10c or so. This is less than a third of the price of FoodSaver bags, and one-fifth of the price of the Waring bags.
The only things that kept me from a FIVE star rating are:
1. It can be tricky to get the bags in the right position. If you do not, they will not seal properly. I attached a photo showing a setup that works for me. The end of the bag must be about halfway in to the "Vacuum Chamber".
2. The instructions are not clear, perhaps because they weren't written by an English speaker. Some drawings to show where to place the bags would have been very helpful.
3. Once closed and sealed, the bags can take up a lot of space in the freezer, because at least 1-1/2" of extra material is needed at the closure end, making them bulky.
4. Making each bag by sealing each end takes close to two minutes, so the process can get slow. It would be very simple to design a unit that aligns the bag material properly and semi-automatically, which would make the whole process much faster (Nutirchef: Are you listening? I can help you with this).
Time will tell about how well these work at food preservation, and how long the unit lasts. I will post an update later.
======== UPDATED 3/28/18 ==========
I do write a lot of reviews, but they usually are very sober. However, this item is terrific.
I am single, and I often have trouble buying things in reasonable sizes, so I buy extra, and freeze it. I figured that the NutriChef would reduce freezer burn and keep things longer. It does, but...
Since buying the sealer, I have found a lot of extra uses. Sous vide cooking is incredibly good. Simply take a skinless chicken breast, heat it, in the bag, to 160° for 40 minutes or so, and you produce the juiciest ever meat for things like chicken salad. Salmon burgers are very delicate objects, yet I found that I could vacuum seal them without excessively flattening them. Again, sous vide to the desired temperature, then an fry at high heat to sear. I freeze them, also, and can transport them to my girlfriend's house (she loves them...)
Butchers dry age meat at about 35° for weeks. Mine literally raises the price 3-fold for the aging. Do this in your fridge, and you are likely to simply have spoiled meat. However, in a vacuum-sealed bag, you can enjoy the benefits of aging without the fear of spoilage.
Tonight, I made up a nice 2 pound batch of mashed gingered carrots, and a large quantity of caramelized onions. These jobs take a long time to cook. Even though both of them had a lot of residual liquid, the NutriChef sealed them right up, allowing me to prepare serving sized bags for the next time. FYI: the pureed carrots can be reconstituted with water and pureed into a delicious soup.
I'm really surprised how much I like this thing. I raised my rating from four stars to five.
It probably sounds like I don't like this product much, but that's not really true. It appears to be well made, and it works exactly as promised. I had no trouble sealing some steaks for a sous vide session. It is compact and won't require a lot of storage space. The vacuum pump makes a little noise, but otherwise it's silent. I bought a package of 8 inch and 11 inch rolls, so I should be all set for the foreseeable future. I would have given the product five stars, but the user's manual is too sketchy and incomplete, costing it one star.
Update: After five weeks of infrequent use, this unit died. I contacted the seller through Amazon. The seller did nothing more than send me an e-mail with the manufacturer's phone number. The manufacturer had me ship the unit to them in Brooklyn at my own expense - about $20. After about three weeks, a repaired unit was delivered, and it has worked properly now for months. Products do fail, so I guess it was my turn to get a defective unit. I'm not thrilled that I had to ship the unit to the manufacturer at my own expense, though.

I hate that all the 5 star reviews influenced my decision to buy it, after finding out I can get free rolls of bags for posting a 5 star review here. I’m not sure this should be allowed.
But it just falls short.
it is below avg for sure. I know it's not a $200 model. However, I had a cheaper model before this with better suction and control and only replaced it because it died short of 6 months. (not a suction issue death though)
clearance, there is over an inch gap between the close door and the heater element. So you lose a good inch of bag every time. The cheaper one I had was only 1/4" loss. Very good compared to this one.
3: goes up to 11" bag width I believe.
I use these the most to seal steaks. except for 1 or 2 seals, I usually get a floater when I'm sous Vide'ing, Which means theres too much air and it didn't do a good enough suction, and/or seal so maybe some got in.
Def going to spend some coin on the next one and save myself these headaches.
Contemplating returning it as I'm in the window and saved the box luckily.
There's a bit of a learning curve on using vacuum sealers. I made a batch of waffles and decided I should individually vacuum seal them before freezing. The first one was a horrifying experience as I watched it flatten my light and fluffy waffle into cardboard. Once I figured out that I'm not obligated to wait for the machine to decide how much air to extract and I could press Seal when it had most of the air out,, it went much smoother.
