I do a yearly microbiology unit with my kindergarten science class. This agar is excellent for culturing common bacteria and fungi found in homes/classrooms. I am a former microbiologist, and this is so much faster for me to prepare a dozen plates than if I had to mix powdered agar, heat, and keep everything sterile. Heat (carefully) in the microwave and shake, repeat until entirely liquid. Then pour your plates. I can only get a dozen plates out of one bottle, pouring 1/8" thick agar in each plate. Beautiful cultures result after the kids swab the classroom and bathroom! I would recommend this for any science teacher, or any student wanting to do some experimentation for a science fair or other general study of microbial growth. If you only wanted to do a couple of plates at a time, you could refrigerate the leftover agar (in the bottle) and do the process again the following week or so.

this product worked very well .we did some cool experiments at home. we swabbed the inside of shoes to show my son how important it is to put clean socks on everyday. we also did the kitchen sink sponge it was really neat to see how much bacteria was on the sponge.within the the first 24 hrs. the dishes were growing . the agar was easy to warm and melt. i told all my friends about the product.it really caught my sons attention.our results were impressive. any body who has kids should show them how cool science can really be and its not that hard to do.

The nutrient agar came sterile and wasnt destroy during the shipping process. But one thing that they should do is changing the plastic bottle to a clear plastic or glass bottle. When pouring the agar into the petri dish lumps and lumps of agar was pour in. When swirling the agar in the bottle I was unsure that it melted completely but unfortunately my experiment was ruin. I would not be expecting to buy from them again In the future.

WE bought the pre-made Nutrient Agar for a 5th grade science project and it worked as promised. It was easy to use and there was no mess. I have never used the mix that you have to prepare at home, and it might be less expensive, but if you want something easy and if it is your first time using agar, this is the way to go. The instructions that came with the product were very helpful too. Best part was that my daughter won first prize in the chemistry category.

This worked great for my kids science projects. Got 17 petri dishes out of this bottle. I microwaved for 30 seconds. Make sure to open the lid slightly so the bottle doesn't expand. Watch closely as it can overflow if it overheats.

I bought the Nutrient Agar 200 ml Bottle for some home experiments with cultures. It was shipped securely, and worked well for my needs - my cultures thrived! The enclosed instructions were helpful as well. Great purchase, thank-you!

Arrived as described and on time. Ordered it to supplement my microbio class. Was ready to use and successfully grew bacterial cultures.

It is exactly what it is supposed to be and grows bacteria and nematodes just great. Be careful about heating in the microwave though. We left it in too long and it erupted!
