OBiWiFi Wireless Adapter
Connect a USB-equipped OBi device to the internet over a WiFi network with this OBiWiFi wireless adapter. With OBiWiFi, you can place the OBi VoIP phone adapter anywhere within range of your Wi-Fi network.
The OBiWiFi wireless adapter works with IP phones (models OBi1032 and OBi1022) and VoIP phone adapters (models OBi200 and OBi202). Experience ultimate freedom and convenience with the OBiWiFi wireless adapter.
OBiWiFi Setup to OBi IP Phone
Connect the power adapter to the OBi IP phone, then insert the OBiWiFi dongle in the USB port 1 on the back of the phone. View the image to the left for reference of the next six steps:
1. Select Settings on the phone screen.
2. Select OBiWiFi.
3. Click on 'Scan' (bottom right of the screen).
4. Select the WiFi network you would like to connect to.
5. Click on 'Connect' to enter your network password.
6. Enter the WiFi password if required.
You will see a WiFi icon on top of the screen once OBi Phone is successfully connected to your WiFi network. Dial customer care to verify if the OBi is able to reach out to the internet.
OBiWiFi Setup to OBi200 or OBi202
Connect the OBiWiFi adapter to the OBi device’s USB port and power-on the OBi device.
Open the network settings from a WiFi enabled device and connect to the WiFi network called 'OBiWiFi_Setup'. Your OBi device will auto-connect to the OBiWiFi_Setup network.
Wait 30 seconds, then open a browser window and visit obiconnect wifi page. If asked, enter the OBi device’s username and password to access the configuration webpage. The default value for both UN and PW is: admin. Please call our customer care for help.
Select your WiFi network’s name (SSID) from the drop down list and (if necessary) enter its Password. Click 'Connect' to complete the setup. The OBi's power LED will turn from blinking green to steady green.
Q: What is OBiWiFi? How does it work?
A: The Obihai OBiWiFi wireless adapter allows a USB-equipped OBi device, like the OBi202, to connect to the internet over a Wi-Fi network. With OBiWiFi, you have the freedom to place the OBi VoIP phone adapter anywhere within range of your Wi-Fi network. With OBiWiFi connected to your OBi202 VoIP device, as long as you have the proper credentials to connect to the network, you can connect to any Wi-Fi access point or hot spot to make and receive phone calls with the phone(s) attached to your OBi.
Q: What is the range of OBiWiFi?
A: You may place the OBi202 with the OBiWiFi Wireless Adapter anywhere in your home or office with good Wi-Fi reception. Please keep in mind that the range of your OBiWiFi can be affected by things such as walls, windows, doors and other structural elements in your home or office environment.
Q: I am using WEP encryption in my router. What should I do?
A: In your router's configuration, please use WEP key 1, don't use 2, 3, or 4. Then, if OBiWiFi is powered on, try to connect - see whether OBiWiFi gets an IP now.
Q: How to configure wireless AP for WEP with OBiWiFi.
A: When connecting OBiWIFI to your AP using security option of WEP and you see status for your OBiWIFI shows 'Authentication fail to xxxxxx':
If the Wireless Security that you have set in your wireless router is as such, the authentication failure may be because OBi is configured to use Passphrase ('ExcellentWiFi') as password and/or selecting wrong Key Index.
The result shows that the OBi202 is attempting to connect (and/or show as connected) but does not receive an IP address and does not connect to your wireless router.
When you see the 'Authentication fail to xxxxxx' message or 'Obtaining IP address from xxxxxx. ..' for more than one minute, please verify your password and Key Index. Please use hex key instead of using ascii passphrase.
For example: if you configure your wireless router like the picture above and your Passphrase is: ExcellentWiFi then you should enter 143565037F4223B04ACD5741B5 for the password (if the TX Key index is 1 as above picture shows) and select '1' as Key Index.
Q: Will my call quality be affected with OBiWiFi?
A: No. As long as OBiWiFi is within range of your wireless signal, and has a strong signal, you should be able to enjoy good voice clarity.
Q: Which Wi-Fi standard and frequency does OBiWiFi support?
A: OBiWiFi supports the 802.11n and 802.11b/g wireless standards and operates in the 2.4GHz band.
Q: Can I use the OBi202 with OBiWiFi as a wireless bridge?
A: Yes! With your OBi202 (with OBiWiFi) connected to a Wi-Fi network, you can plug a computer into the OBi202's Ethernet LAN port a to get internet access. The computer will obtain an IP address from the OBi202 (acting as a router), not directly from the WiFi AP.
Q: What security and encryption protocols does OBiWiFi support?
A: OBiWiFi supports wireless data encryption using 64/128-bit WEP, WPA and WPA2.
Q: Can I use the OBi202 with OBiWiFi with a 4G or LTE Hot Spot?
A: Yes! With your OBi202 (with OBiWiFi) connected to the 4G Hot Spot's Wi-Fi network, you may use VoIP services with your 4G wireless broadband service. Please note that some carriers have been known to block VoIP traffic.
Q: Why can’t I sign in to the special web page for OBiWiFi set-up and configuration?
A: Make sure you have the latest firmware update.
A: To check for firmware update, pick up the phone connected to the OBi202 and dial ***6. The announcement will let you know if there is an update.
If there is, press 1 and hang-up. Your OBi will automatically update and restart in about 2-3 minutes.
Alternatively, if you are signed-in to OBiTALK and see a yellow triangle to the right of your OBi device, you may click on the yellow triangle to start the automatic update.
Make sure your computer is connected to the OBi202's LAN port.
Q: What should I do if OBiWiFi does not get receive a signal after I have set everything up?
A: 1. Disconnect and then re-insert your OBiWiFi Wireless Adapter. Make sure it is plugged in all the way.
2. Your OBiWiFi may be out of range. Move your OBi202 with OBiWiFi closer to your router.
Q: I don’t see my Wi-Fi network showing up. What should I do?
A: It is likely that your network name (SSID) is hidden / not being broadcast. You may add your network name (SSID) under 'Add A Network' at the obiconnect wifi web page.
Q: I am not able to connect OBiWiFi to my corporate/business network. What should I do?
A: Check with your company's network administrator to get help adding the OBiWiFi to the network. Also, in your router's settings, make sure you disable WMM/WMA.
Q: My OBiWiFi status keeps showing Connecting and then Authentication fail. What should I do?
A: Check and see if you have entered the correct password. Try retyping your password again.
Q: Can OBiWiFi store more than one Wi-Fi network?
A: Yes! In fact, OBiWiFi can store up to 20 Wi-Fi networks.

But the instructions on the box are out of date. Basically, after you plug the OBiWIFI into the usb port on your OBi200/202/1032 box, it becomes it's own wifi hotspot that you can find in your nearby wifi network called "OBiWIFI_Setup". Once you join the hotspot, you'll find the configuration page on 192.168.10.1, but before you do any of this, visit the instruction page online: http://obiconnect.com/wifi (referred to in step 3 on the back of the retail package). If the hotspot times out, you can force it back into hotspot setup mode by dialing *27 from your OBihai connected handset.
I have a Obi200 connected and using a Google Voice account. It has always worked perfect when having a CAT5 plugged into the back of the Obi200.
Reading other comments helped in setting this up as the instructions it came with were outdated. I was able to connect it to my wifi, have it pull an IP address, my router saw it, ObiTalk's website said it was "connected", and the left light on my Obi200 was solid green (stating it was working). But the second I tried to make a call, everything would drop.
The best it would work was it could place a call...but neither side could hear anything. And the same problem when receiving one. This was best case, usually it just didn't work. I do live in apartment with many other wifi devices competing which some have theorized can cause problems. Though, it works fine using a different wireless solution (as well as everything else wireless I own):
SOLUTION: follow the suggestion from the reviewer Jason titled "wishful thinking" dated 2/24/16. Jason suggested purchasing a TP-Link N150 Wireless Travel Router, Nano Size, Router/AP/Client/Bridge/Repeater Modes, Up to 150Mbps, USB Powered (TL-WR702N) mini wifi repeater/dongle and I happened to have already. Everything was up and running in 5 minutes and it works FLAWLESSLY. No drops, no issues of any kind.
In the end, Obihai makes amazing telephone products that work great. Unfortunately this one is just not up to par with what I expect from them as a company which is too bad.
