I bought this OCZ bracket to hold the Intel X25-M 160GB SSD I ordered separately, not realizing that Intel includes a bracket in the package. The OCZ bracket is small and aluminum compared to the larger (longer, deeper and heavier) steel Intel bracket.

When I tried to use the OCZ bracket, though, I was puzzled to find that the mounting holes on the side of the bracket didn't match that of a 3.5" drive. My Antec P180 case doesn't use slide-in brackets for hard drives, so it didn't fit there. I wondered if it would fit cases where slide-in brackets were used, but when I compared the hole spacing to some spare brackets I had, it didn't match those either.

Checking other review sites, I see that some people had the same issue I did, while others said that the bracket fit their case perfectly. You should check your own case before ordering. The holes in the OCZ bracket are at 3/4" and 2-3/8" from the first hole, closest to one end of the bracket.

Needless to say, the Intel bracket had standard-spaced holes matching a 3.5" drive and worked for me. The OCZ bracket did not.

This product might serve a purpose for other setups but I bought it in order to adapt a 2.5" SSD I bought to replace the dead hard drive in my 2011 21.5" iMac and it's too short to fit the mount points!

The width is fine but the length is not that of a standard 3.5" hard drive and as a result will not mount properly to the OEM mount points on the iMac.

I had to make due with attaching only one screw point using this, which should suffice since the iMac doesn't get moved around much, but it's not ideal. For lack of desire to crack back open my iMac and return this, I'll leave it be but wanted to warn others that were in my shoes looking for a solution for their iMac.

I have six solid state drives now and space is an issue (I love speed, having multiple boot options, and hate spinning drives). I received my first Ocz SSD bracket when I purchased one of their 120 GB drives. I love the bracket. Other SSD brackets take more space then they need to (two to three times thicker then the drive). None of my SSD drives get hot so I don't need a lot of space between them (as long as your case has good cooling).

I would highly recommend these drive brackets to anyone that has 2.5" SSD drives that need to mount in a 3.5" drive bay.

I'm uncertain what bays this adapter is supposed to allow the 2.5 inch SSD to fit into, but it does not fit into either of my Antec cases. Needless to say, this was a frustrating discovery, as this was supposed to be the system drive for my new PC, and now I'm stymied due to a non-fitting bracket.

I ordered this bracket when I ordered a Vertex 4 SSD, because I didn't realize that the Vertex package contained this exact same bracket. The Vertex 4 packaging even included 8 screws (4 for SSD to bracket, 4 for bracket to case) which the standalone bracket omitted for some reason.

All 8 screws are metric, while almost every 3.5" drive I've seen uses 6-32 screws. If you bought this adapter by itself, you'll need to scrounge for 8 metric screws. This means that you'll need to get creative if your case has some unusual drive trays. For example, my Dell O960 uses plastic trays with unthreaded pins which pop into the drive's mounting holes. That brings up my next point - this adapter does not have the standard set of mounting holes that most hard drives have, so you may only be able to use 2 mounting points for the adapter instead of all four. Lastly, the drive's position in the adapter places the SATA connectors close to, but not in the exact same place as, a 3.5" hard drive's connectors. Again, if you're using a specialty case with either a backplane the drive is expected to plug into, or with tightly positioned cables, you may have to get creative.

I'm going back to my previous solution - I buy broken or "refurbished" Velociraptor drives (HLFS version with 3.5" adapter) and remove the Velociraptor and mount the SSD in its place. Aside from being a much better fit in the case, it also looks good. Those old Velociraptor drives can be had for prices comparable to this adapter, if you're patient and look around. If you do this, make sure you get the HLFS version and not either of the others, as the HLFS version has the only adapter that matches a 3.5" drive perfectly.

Claims to work with Hotswapable drives, but the holes do not line up. The drive is to far forward a pushes to hard against the back plane so the latch will not stay fastened and the bottom of the tray hits the slot the drive is supposed to plug in to. It is to short so you can only use 2 screws to fasten the drive.
I decided it is not worth using. I cannot return it because I to removed metal from the end and drilled the holes larger. I should have just returned both or them.

It's a well made bent piece of metal that has holes for mounting in a 3.5" bay found in most desktop computer cases. This particular bent piece of metal has the OCZ branding and is coated in a very nice shiny black finish. If you have a case window it will not detract from the look of all your other cables and circuitry! One of the nicest features of this bent piece of metal is that the mounting area for the SSD drive has four holes which are raised as to keep you SSD from having a flush mount on the the surface of the bent piece of metal. I can assume that the engineer when designing this product took into consideration the thermal loads of SSD drives into account so that there would be maximum airflow under and over the drive. Very good product indeed!
