These are the future. If you want cutting edge performance and are already dishing out over $200 for a nice SSD, there is no reason to get a SATA interface one unless you physically can't use a PCIe SSD.

You do have to load drivers onto a USB drive and "install" them in the Window's Install Setup during the time you select which drive to install windows onto (you have to select load driver, locate the drivers, choose the one corresponding to your OS, and then one loaded the drive will appear for you to select it). *UNTIL YOU LOAD THE DRIVERS, THE DRIVE WILL NOT APPEAR IN WINDOWS SETUP*

Also, it's best to check that your motherboard is compatible first.

Screaming fast! I love this thing and I wish I had bought the 480gb one. It is so much faster than anything I have ever used before. I have been using SSDs mounted to SATA for a long time, but PCI is the way to go for sure. SO FAST!!!!

The install was easy for me. Follow the instructions, and it takes about 15-20min from opening the box to configuring the drive. Not bad at all, and kind of fun too.

Installed the 240GB Revodrive series 3 in my Asus Maximus IV (P67). Booted up, card showed up immediately in the BIOS. Booted Windows 7 x64 from a USB stick. After installing the device driver (from the OCZ website), the installation went smoothly. Windows Experience Index jumped to 7.8 with zero tweaking.

It seems the initial versions of these SSD cards had some teething problems, but OCZ sorted it out with this latest version.

Recommended for enthusiasts & pros.

This drive makes me angry at my laptop... The best benchmark I can give is that I can start Outlook with an exchange connection, 5 other imap accounts, and about 8GB in PST files in roughly 5 seconds. Very impressive performance for office and graphics. Amazing for video rendering as well, you just need to ensure you have enough space on the drive for that. My only regret is that I couldn't afford the bigger drive. I've been running this no-stop for about 6 months with no problems at all.

On setup, I was having trouble detecting the drive. If you have that issue too, try switching the RevoDrive to another slot. My mobo was very particular about which slot I was using...

I wanted a fast drive so I looked for the fastest. I got to admit I thought it would be even faster but It is damm fast. Nothing can beat it. I am just new to the technology and after reading how people thought the SATA SSDs were fast I figured I would go even faster. Its true that programs like word load in the blink of an eye no lag at all.

My only regret is that I didnt get the larger 240G. I got the 120 thinking all I needed to install was the programs and OS. Well thats true but now I am so spoiled with it that I want all my progrmas to run off of it so I am bumping up against filling it with just software.

My setup.

P8-z68 v-pro Asus MOBO
16GB Memory
i7-2600k OC to 5GHZ cooled with H80 liquid cooler

No HDD in the system because I use a NAS that holds and backups everything.

I recently purchased the OCZ Revo Drive 3 240GB PCIe as an upgrade for my Intel X58 based gaming system. I am using it as the primary boot drive for the OS, Applications, and Games. While the drive was somewhat of a pain to setup initially, I am very pleased with the result. Installation of Windows 7 Ultimate from a USB Drive only took a couple minutes. System startup, shutdown, and application load times is also significantly improved.

I however cannot give the drive a 5 star rating because of a very poor experience during the initial setup. Included in the box is a CD with an electronic manual and drivers, a quick start guide was desperately lacking. If you were using the drive to configure a new system, it would not be possible to read the PDF manual on the CD which is a huge over site on OCZ's part in my opinion.

I installed the PCIe drive and booted into my motherboards BIOS to ensure it was detected. The motherboard should detect the drive similar to a SCSI card and some motherboards you may have to enable the option boot for third party cards. Thankfully in my case the drive was detected and I was able to select it as the primary boot option. I inserted a USB Thumb Drive with the Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 installer, selected the drive in the boot menu, and was able to successfully start the Windows setup.

This is where things got a bit tricky. Windows 7 Ultimate X64 SP1 would not detect the drive at installation despite loading the driver on the CD. I downloaded the most recent driver from the OCZ website [...], extracted it to the USB thumb drive to try again. Windows would not properly detect the driver in the root of the driver folder, and only i386 and amd64 options were listed (this is an Intel X64 not AMD64).

THE UPDATE BELOW EXPLAINS HOW I FIXED THE PROBLEM I HAD ENCOUTERED AT FIRST WITH THE INSTALLATION.

I bought this Revo Drive 3 and thought it would be a nice addition to my rig. I installed Windows 8 with no major problems but after running some different benchmark programs discovered that my other 3 SSD drives (Intel 335, Sandisk Extreme, and Kingston Hyper X 3k) were faster or equal to this one. Even after cloning the drive to one of the other SSDs thinking it could be because it had the new WIN 8 OS. After rerunning the tests it did not matter it still was as fast as the other 3 sometimes slower.

THIS IS THE REASON I RETURNED AND GAVE THE OCZ PCIe REVO DRIVE 5 STARS INSTEAD OF THE 3 I HAD GIVEN IT.
Had to come back and let everyone know that I have an Asus Sabertooth 990 FX and had installed this card on the last slot from the CPU which is also a PCIe x16 slot. The card was showing as a PCIe X-1 at boot up which seem strange because it is advertised as a PCIe 4 this coupled with the fact that I was getting the same score or lower than the other SSDs in my system after checking that the card was properly seated in the slot I made the decision to change slots and viola; the card showed as PCIe 4 on boot up and definitely smoked the other drives. I got the advertised speeds and could not be happier. So if anyone gets this problem it could be that the slot you are using is keeping the card from performing like it should. Also, according to OCZ's website my Asus Sabertooth 990 FX should present no problems regardless of slot. I found the same thing in a support board/blog, someone was stating that the slots do not matter.
