I was going to buy a 2nd Agility 60gb SSD, so I could add a 2nd one in Raid 0. The new Agility 2 and Vertex 2 40gb SSD drives have 18% faster read speed and double the write speed of the original Agility and Vertex series. It's probably faster than the 2 older drives in Raid 0 anyway. I was going to order the 40gb Agility 2 but it was sold out. I ordered the Vertex 2 instead, because the specs and price was the same. I'm still not sure what the difference is. Anyway, this drive is very fast. Compared to the Intel 40gb Value SSD, the Vertex 2 40gb SSD had triple the read speed and almost 8 times the write speed. I'm using the 40gb Vertex 2 for the / and swap drive of a 64 bit Linux Mint 9 desktop system, and I'm using the 60gb Agility drive for my /home partition. This system is VERY fast with these drives, 4gb of RAM and a 3.1ghz AMD Phenom II X2 550 processor.

This drive is fast, but not quite as fast as the Agility 2 or Vertex 2 50gb and 60gb drives. It's pretty close though if you are trying to save money. I doubt you will find a faster 40gb SSD drive than this.

Oh yeah, and this drive comes with a 3.5 inch mounting bracket for desktop computers and all the screws too. The 60gb Agility drive did not come with any mounting hardware. It also comes with a cool sticker that says 'My SSD is faster than your HDD'.

The unit performed way above expected, transfer rate was off the roof, when compared to HDDs; after about 9 months and a few days, it died on me. I couldn't get it to be recognized by the bios on any of my 4 computers. I contacted the seller, just took me 1 email explaining what had happened and what I did to test and they replied within 24-30 hours with a RMA(had to pay for shipping one way). Took them about 1 week to send me a new unit. Very pleased with product and with seller support. Bought another one from them. (Agility 60GBs and its even faster than the vertex 2) Oh yeah, my data was completely gone.

OCZ is a company that stands behind their products. When browsing Newegg or Amazon anytime you see an OCZ product complaint (through user reviews), there's almost always an OCZ response (on Amazon you don't see it, but on Newegg it's plain as day) and they almost always offer to replace the item free of charge. I didn't need a replacement in this case, but I wanted to mention the integrity of the company before starting the review.

This product works. I purchased this for $105 when most other 40Gb SSDs were going for around $130-$150. This was my first personal SSD purchase (I used to build high-performance computers, but this was the first time I bought an SSD for my own personal use) and I was a bit hesitant to buy it because of the wide range of speed differences inherent in SSD design. Depending on the type of chips installed some SSDs can be extremely fast, or extremely disappointing. I'm glad this one was the former. If you view ratings and reviews around the internet you'll find *glowing* reviews for the Vertex 2-series drives...and for good reason. Using the newer Sandforce controller means it can handle speeds of up to around 250Mb/s read and over 200Mb/s write. This seems impossible or unlikely until you actually use it. Having actually used computers with SSDs before I can say with 100% truthfulness that this thing blew my mind and surprised me at every turn.

From start to finish my Windows 7-64 rig starts up in just over 20 seconds. That means by the end of the 20 seconds my computer is *fully* booted and ready to go. It's not still processing start-up applications...it's done and waiting for me to push it harder. As a photographer, two of the programs I use most often are Photoshop CS5 and Lightroom 3. I just got my instant transmission(SSD) yesterday. I put windows 7 32 bit on it and it loads in 11 seconds. It's only 37g but if you are just using it to put your O/S. i think 32 bit windows 7 only takes up 10g so leaving me with the other 27 to put a few more programs on it. But only programs that i want to turn into goku SS4.

Con's- if you dont care about speed then dont get it!
