This adaptor from NEMA 15-40 plug to 6-50 receptacle is a necessary part to plug in VE/Audi hybrids. The OEM supplied cord (6-50) requires a very rare receptacle (except welding equipment.) this adapter matches one of the common public NEMA charging receptacles. My experience covers 2016-2019 VW Jetta & Audi A3 hybrids. I do not know about pure electrics. This cord @ $10 is far cheaper then the equivalent OEM adaptor @ $350. Maddening: Such cords are listed on Amazon by amperage, without plug type.

Works fine to connect my 220v euro style welder to a US 50a outlet.

Welder has a hard wired cord with a 6-50R connector (apparently what is used outside the USA). My generator has a 14-50p 220v outlet. Both are connectors rated for 50 amps at 220v.

NON-US 220v is generally at 50hz, but my welder seems to work just fine on US based 60hz.

This will NOT work to connect your welder or other device to a 30a 220v dryer outlet. Such adapters do exist, but this isn't the one you need if you're trying to make that connection.

What can one say? It fits right, it certainly is well made and very heavy duty. The electrical connections are good and tight. The wire seems to be very heavy gauge yet will still bend some to allow you to position the plug where it needs to be. The price is quite fair for what it is.
I would buy again. Good value for the price paid.

These adapters do not come the way they are shown in the listing. I received my order and I expected the 6-50 plug to be facing opposite of the 14-50 plug, just like the picture shows. That is not the case. I ordered a replacement and it is no better.

Perfect adapter for a Lincoln Ranger GXT 250 to Lincoln Power MIG 180 Dual. A good secure fit to use 224v side of the Power MIG180 Dual 120v/240v. Price significantly less than Lincolns adapter. Finding the right NEMA adaption is probably why Lincoln sells theirs for more. Took a long time to find this.
