This thing is almost perfect. Fits great, keeps you warm and is easy to get in and out of. However, it stinks. Skunk, pot or neoprene call it what you will it just stinks. I wear this for kayaking on the north coast of California and if I wear anything with the wetsuit (rash guards etc) they end up stinking too. Washing aforementioned garments will not remove the smell and if they touch anything else the smell will transfer. I have had probably 10 wetsuits in my life and none have smelled this bad. I am a bit annoyed b/c otherwise I'd love this wetsuit but the smell is just too bad and seems to get worse over time. I have tried to wash it to no avail.
I'm usually pretty weak when it comes to cold temps but this wetsuit went above my expectations. Went into the water for about 3 hours and I was warm the whole time. I think at least 25-30% of the people there had similar/identical O'Neill wetsuits so that reinforced the idea that I made a wise choice going with this one.
I had a concern from another review where they said it smelled so bad they had to return it. I did notice a smell, which is normal, but it wasn't anything too horrible. I didn't notice it much when wearing it or even when washing it outside. The only time I really noticed the smell was when I put it on a drying rack in the bathroom and closed the door. Even so, I think the smell should go away over time and I will update if it doesn't or if it gets worse.
I used this wetsuit for the first time today, June 18 2020, and it is thoroughly worn in the crotch and thigh area, especially near the stitching... Due to this I cannot recommend this wetsuit at this time.
UPDATE 7/20/20: Contacted O'Neil who have been very unprofessional in their response. You would expect a big company like this to remedy the issue promptly. They are not willing to own up to their defective craftsmanship at this time. DO NOT BUY THIS WETSUIT, DO NOT BUY FROM ONEIL. I will post another update if they ship a replacement product. I expect O'Neil to get in touch regarding this issue. Will update when able.

After searching the web high and low I finally came across this wetsuit and figured I'd give it a try. I'm 6'5" tall and weigh 220lbs. I've bought and returned many wetsuits thinking they would be long enough but always come up short until this one. The arms and legs are actually long enough. It does feel a little tight in the chest but I'm sure once I'm in the water it will fit perfectly. I will primarily be using this wetsuit for diving and can't wait to try it out. Only thing missing from this wetsuit is zippers for the ankles.

Winter is here.... Need a 4/3mm O'Neil Epic Size: 2XLS (for a 5'11, 215 LBS man) Great wetsuit, great price, so nice I bought it twice! One for me, one for my son... Great for Cold (sub 50° H2O)... Not sure how much lower than 50° but definitely great for that temperature range. I'm 5'11 and I weigh approx. 215 LBS or so, so I'm not tall, but I'm not small... went with the 2XL(S) size and it is a perfect fit. Couldn't fit any better in my opinion. My son and I tested these suits for a couple of hours just floating around out in Galveston Beach (there was no surf that day, so a good day to just test them out by floating around for a while)... we couldn't feel the cold water at all the suits are GREAT, 5 Star Great! I can already tell I'm going to need some gloves and I just decided on a couple of NP Neoprene Beanies... (hard to find with Prime benefits included)... back to the wetsuit, awesome fit, awesome quality, awesome comfort, and all around awesome value for the money! Would HIGHLY recommend the O'Neil Epic 4/3mm wetsuit for anyone in the south surfing or scuba diving during winter months. Outstanding purchase!
Very nice wetsuit. In the Pacific Ocean off San francisco, I stay warm and toasty in the waves while others are shivering and shrinking ;). Easy on, easy off. Also, really bouyant (I usually sink to the sea floor, but with this I can float in the surf. Awesome!)
Fantastic for 50's winter waves in SoCal. I'm a big guy and got the xxxl and it fits me perfectly. Very inexpensive for the quality and the thickness didn't impede paddling whatsoever. I'd say this is a fantastic buy.
With the pandemic going on and everything closed, my local pool has remained closed, and they don't know if they will open it for summer. I'm an avid swimmer (I swim at least 4 times a week), and I haven't been able to swim for 2 months now. So, I decided it was time to start considering open water as an option for my workouts, but it's only in the 60s where I live, with a smattering of 70'sh degree days lately. The lake is about 48, 50 degrees, depending on how far from shore you go. I wanted to make sure I could stay in the water for upwards of an hour and not suffer hypothermia, but I also wasn't sure I wanted a 7mm or 5mm suit, so I decided to just try this 4/3 suit, especially for the price-point.
I went out for my first swim today. Ambient temp was about 65 degrees. The lake water was 48 / 50 degrees.
This suit was amazing. I ordered a 4 xls because I'm a bigger guy all around and even when I shed weight, my chest is big as are my arms and thighs. The suit fit almost right. I had a little bit of roll in the arms, arm pits, legs, and crotch. Despite that little bit of roll, the suit did it's job perfectly. As I swam, I could feel the heat radiating from my body in the suit and the warm water between myself, the suit, and the lake. I swam for an hour, and I can say I never even felt chilly while in the water (aside from the exposed areas of my face at first as I eased myself into the water).
In terms of fit, I did feel the water rush into my suit at the low back, because the suit is a tad too large, but it insulated well, and it kept that water warm.
I'm exchanging this for one size down, but I'm sticking with O'Neil. I can't say enough great things about this suit.
Great suit - thick enough to keep you warm and does not restrict your movements at all, feels natural on the skin. I use it for kiteboarding and even had a session in 4C - was absolutely fine and warm.
This is nice quit. I use it for paddling and never experienced any chafing. One negative is that you must close the velcro on itself before pulling the suit off. The veclro is very aggressive and will attach to the inside the suit and the seam and that may cause damage. I already had to do a small seam repair. So, just ingrain it in your head "must close velcro" and you will be ok, however I wish it was not necessary. Other than that the suit is nice and comfortable. I don't sense any restriction when paddling, although I do not paddle long-distance.

If you're looking for a good tall/slim fit wetsuit, this one's for you. In the past simply depending on hieght and weight for a well fitting suit doesn't work. I'm 6' tall and average 150 lbs depending on what I've eaten that day, (seriously it fluctuates that much) with a 31.5" waistline and I bought the Medium/Tall and couldn't be happier. The material is far more flexible than my other suit so getting a snug fit is way easier. Just an Fyi, the velcro for around the neck seal is VERY strong and unles you put it over the opposite velcro strip when putting your suit away, ie in your dive bag etc, it will stick to the neoprene material and start to fray it over time. You won't find a better suit for less money, so just buy it already.
The suit arrived with defect or maybe used. There were no tag(s) and the inside of the suit had damage from the velcro sticking to the inside of the suit. Not happy about getting a used product. I hope Amazon is more careful about sending out defective products in the future. As for the suit itself, I think it is good quality for the money. The velcro thing around the neck is very sticky and will damage the inside of the suit if no careful. Maybe sew a patch of non-stick fabric close to the velcro so that it cannot damage the surrounding inside of the suit?

Haven't worn a wetsuit for years, and the last one I bought in person. So to order online made me wonder how it'd fit given the sizing shown online. I"m 6'2" tall, and a 40" chest, but long arms. I picked the size with "large tall". It fit perfect when I got it. The great feature about the suit is the harder neoprene protection on the knees, as evident when I went windsurfing. The processing of climbing on to the board will wear at the knees, and the neoprene pads added grip for stability when standing up. Priced affordably compared to other brands.
