Pretty Close...One Cheap Part Keeps it from Perfect.

The metal case is awesome....but...after using it for some time, a few of the ports just stopped working. The power plug finally became so loose as to be unusable. Into the garbage it went. Too bad the innards weren't as awesome as the case.

I would probably give this 5 stars if the power adapter connector was better quality. It's very cheap and eventually requires a workaround to keep the connector in contact with the internal receptacle to maintain power. I set up a hook & pile strip contraption that applies a constant upward pull on the plug to keep it working. I don't really trust the manufacturer to fix the problem, but with the hook & pile in place, it works like a champ.

The USB connector is much better than most, using a USB 3.0 A-Type/USB 3.0 B-Type cable which provides a very good connection, unlike some that use the USB 3.0 A-Type/USB 3.0 Micro B cable (which is a disaster waiting to happen).

Great Hub, But it's Missing Something

I've tried 3 different HUBs from different brands and I think this will be the last one I'll need to by. I play keyboard/synth in a band and need to connect several MIDI controllers to my MacBook Pro. All of those devices are bus powered, so having a powered USB hub is key. The ORICO 7 Port HUB outperformed my expectations based on other HUB's I have tried.

Housing:
The Aluminum housing looks great and is strong enough to withstand a little bit of travel damage. The aluminum will probably have some dings and scratches overtime, but will unlikely crack and fall apart like previous HUBs I have tried.

Port Directions:
Power and PC USB connection ports one side. All the other ports on one side. That's how it is, that's how it should be. You won't have to twist the device around to find a port or have cables sticking out both ends. Clean and simple.

Power and Connectivity:
Performance has been great so far. I've filled every port with a device that draws bus power and it hasn't hiccuped, froze, or even overheated.

My Con:
When the devices is unplugged from the wall or loses power from an outlet the devices On/Off status defaults to off when returning to a power source. I plug this HUB into a power conditioner that supplied power to units in my rack. This hub stays hidden in the back of my rack during a performance and during travel. So, when I power down my rack and pack up, the next time I power up, I need to reach back there and power this hub back on. If there was an on off switch instead of a button, I would be much more satisfied. And that feature/lack-there-of is a 1 star loss in the rating for me.

Conclusion:
Great powered USB hub. I would buy this again.

USB 3.0 Ports Galore!!

This hub is exactly what I needed! It has solved all of my USB port issues (meaning I didn't have enough prior). I had a 6 port HP hub, but that was USB 2.0. This hub with all being USB 3.0 and the charging ports as well, are fantastic, and works exactly as described! My laptop has 4 USB 3.0 ports, which were all being used prior to his hub arriving. Now, I only have 1 USB port on my laptop in use, with ALL of my peripheral devices NOW running through this hub at USB 3.0 speeds!

So, if you have a computer and only have a few USB 3.0 ports, purchasing this hub will solve all of your USB peripheral device issues! Highly recommend!!!

Working very well for us

I'm having absolutely no issues with this at all. It's working excellently for us. The sockets are nicely stiff, so no cord-wobbling issues. The in-use lights are quite handy and work properly. I also appreciate having an on/off switch for the whole box. When we go on a trip or during a storm (which we have a lot of here in the mountains) I can just push the switch, as opposed to having to fuss with unplugging.

I'll update if any durability issues pop up, but for now I'm quite pleased with it.

I could have saved money buying this quality unit first. This hub replaces the $12.99 7-port usb 2.0 hub I purchased in 2012. Sure, the old one lasted 3 years but it was time to replace it since the wires were hanging out due to cheap construction. This ORICO hub is built rock-solid with a black aluminum enclosure that looks great next to my custom-built black gaming pc. Even if you're a clutz like I was, if the USB wire snags on something..it will just unplug. The cheap unit I had before pulled all the wires from within the unit damaging it. The blue led lights indicating a usb plug is "on" are just the right amount of brightness while still remaining subtle and not overpowering to the eye. All my ports are running at true usb 3.0 speeds and it's simple to plug and play. My only complaint about this unit (and it's a minor complaint) is that the power brick is at the plug. And it's the type of power/plug that will block the outlet below it. Luckily I had space on my UPS (backup batter unit) to plug it in. I don't like plugs that block the neighboring outlet. Bad design. Not enough to take away a star. Finally, there might be something better out there but this is the highest quality USB hub I found. Bonus: there is an on/off button on the back. It's nice to have if going on vacation to eliminate power waste.
