Just received this a couple days ago. Was excited to be able to add another group of USB 3.0 ports to the front of my system. However, I went to install the board yesterday and upon removing the board from the anti-static bag noticed a decent bit of residue on the back side of the board from it not being fully cleaned after production.

I'm an electrical engineer and have been doing PCB design for going on 5 years now using parts of larger, equal, and smaller pitch than the components on this board and have had several boards mass produced. Seeing that residue, which I know is flux from the soldering process, is an instant flag for me to inspect the board further. As I feared one of the two control chips was not properly soldered to the board. I found two pins that had a solder bridge shorting them together and two sides of the chip that had under-formed solder joints such that several pins appeared not to even be connected (i.e. not soldered to the board). I started really looking at the rest of the board and all I can say is the fact that this has a "Q.C. Passed" sticker on the back of it is a joke. On almost all of the parts either they have too much solder (such that is is almost balled up OVER the part) or not enough and the parts seem to be barely connected. I am at most under impressed with the quality of this product. If this had been a $10 or even $15 card I would probably not bee too surprised at this. But for $30 I start to expect that at least mechanically/physically/hardware wise the product is decent and this is not.

Given what I found I was NOT about to even attempt putting this card in my computer and am returning it.
Needless to say, like my review title I will not buy this product again, and will never buy a ORICO product again.

I ordered this card for my Mac Pro 5,1 (Mid 2010) after learning the hard way that there are no OSX drivers for NEC-based USB 3.0 chipsets, and after a Fresco card, which worked with the native OSX driver, proved to be a little dodgy. The Orico card exudes quality compared to the others. Its Molex power connector has a reinforced attachment to the card (by comparison, the connectors on the Fresco and NEC are held on only by the soldered pins and two somewhat loose plastic pieces that snap through the card), and the capacitors appear to be solid, as represented. Plugged it into a slot, connected a 4 pin Molex (which I wired from the extra SATA connector in the DVD-drive cage, using a SATA-to-Molex converter and a Molex extension cable), fired up the Mac, and connected all the USB 3.0 peripherals I own: a 2 TB Western Digital My Book USB 3.0, a 2 TB LaCie d2 USB 3 drive, and a Hoodman USB 3.0 card reader. All of them work. I didn't have to load any drivers; the native OSX USB 3 driver works fine with this card.

Orico sent me a nice follow-up e-mail after I bought the card through Amazon, with a tip regarding the power connector (use a SATA-to-Molex; the Mac Pro's extra 6-pin connector won't work because it isn't 5 volts). (Orico: you should include a SATA to Molex converter cable for Mac users, your competitors do!)

All in all, I'm very satisfied with the purchase as well as impressed with Orico, a company I had never heard of until this purchase.

Some tips:
The molex connector on the card is MALE.
Mac Pro 5,1 owners don't necessarily have to run the 5v power all the way from the extra SATA connector in the DVD drive cage; if you aren't using all your drive sleds, just use the SATA connector for the drive sled closest to the USB card.
Owners of the previous Mac Pro model (4,1?) can find two extra SATA headers on the motherboard in the middle section (i.e. drives & PCI slots) towards the front of the case.

The ones that come with the card are out of date and buggy. Newer drivers didn't do much, if anything, to improve performance but stability improved quite a bit. The card will now detect most devices without issue when plugged in. I say most and not all because USB3 is probably the buggiest version of USB yet and everyone, including Intel, are having issues with it not quite working right with everything out there.

The card itself is well made and the packaging is OK too. Instructions are a joke since they're all in Mandarin or Taiwanese so unless you can read those languages you're boned. Just google directions on how to install any old PCIe card if you really need directions. Actually putting the hardware in itself isn't much different from card to card, just remember to plug in the 4 pin power cable otherwise the card won't have enough power to operate properly.

The 2 internal USB3 ports are kinda cool but I would've preferred the card have a front case connector on it instead so I could use the case's built in USB3 ports. The instructions list another card that ORICO makes that has this but it wasn't available at the time I bought this card. Here is the amazon link to that card too: ORICO PVU3 5O2I Port USB 3 0

I haven't used it before but going by the pics it appears identical in every way except for having that front panel USB3 connector.

Using my 4TB USB3 Seagate hard drive as the source I copied a 8GB file a few times to my computer across this cards USB3 ports and got around a average of 110MB/s read speeds. The destination drive was a modern SSD so its pretty unlikely there were any bottlenecks there.
