I purchased this OTC floor jack back in April of 2012 and have never had any issues with it. It's easy to maneuver and light weight enough to carry with one hand. The low profile makes it easy to get under my Mini Cooper and my Nissan Maxima and has no problem lifting either of them. After eight years of use I half expected for it to start leaking hydraulic fluid as the last jack I owned did. That has not happened and I have been very satisfied with my purchase. Wish I had bought two at the time as the price is much higher now than back in 2012.

otc jack. 2 problems but easy fix

Bought this jack in 2012. Worked good for a year. Then stopped jacking my car up. Amazon sent me a new one. Another year later it had the same problem. This time I was told to contact otc which their customer service sucks. They told me to bring it to the nearest service center. I contacted them first. Then the service center said I needed to contact OTC and have them contact the service center before they can do any warranty work. Ive read on how their "lifetime warranty" sucks. So I just took a look at it. This jack is a dual piston jack and the right one was stuck. All I did was use a screwdriver to lift it up(use a bit of force) then I tried using the jack and the piston wouldnt go up and down. So I lubed it and it started moving. So I lubed it some more and kept pumping it and now it works perfectly fine. It would start jacking the car up near the top now instead of having to push the lever near the ground.
Maybe my first one had the same problem. Anyways easy fix and I would recommend it. Also the stuck piston problem is a common issue. And thats because dirt or debris get in there causing it to get stuck.
One more thing. Amazon has the best customer service and I will be a customer for life!

I have two old Volvos and do most of my own work on them. I also live in an old row house in the city, so I don't have a nice suburban-style garage with lots of space for tools etc near where I park the cars. I have to CARRY my jack from its storage point inside my house out to the driveway in back where I work on the car. This jack is light enough that the task is not burdensome or dangerous. It would IMPOSSIBLE to do that with a steel jack in this size.

I'm writing this review a bit over 3 years after I bought this jack. Have used it dozens and dozens of times on my 2 cars plus 2 friends vehicles (all in the 3100-3400 pound range). It has performed admirably, never once behaving in a manner which led me to question its safety. The wide roller on the front end is great, I have found that MUCH more secure than the individual casters that were on my old jack.

I am VERY pleased with the item, it has served me well and looks as though it will continue to do so.

GREAT jack, forget the stands.

I was hesitant to buy a jack since I have always bought the cheapo $30 2 ton jacks sold at pep boys. But then I began to think that over the year I have spend a lot of money replacing cheap jacks.

This jack works great on my Honda S2000. It fits snugly under the car (stock height - which is low). I only had about 3-4" to pump the long handle when the jack was positioned in the middle of the care as Honda recommends to jack up the entire end/front of the car. It was no problem even with the minimal clearance to quickly pump start jacking the car up. Once it started lifting, I was able to jack it up much faster once I had enough clearance to move the handle without obstruction.

WORD OF ADVISE: I decided to purchase this jack alone with out the 2 car stands kit for the extra 99 dollars. Buy the two stands separately for 75 dollars with prime shipping.

Alternately, as I did, purchase 4 big red 2-ton jacks for 24 dollars each and get quality stands at a much better price. The big reds are not aluminum but are great nonetheless and you have twice as many!

otc vs. torin and craftsman

i own a roadside assistance company in southern california. when i started my business i bought 2 craftsman 1.5 ton alunimun jacks. priced at $149.99. total junk! blown seals, led lights never worked more than twice, where the jack inserts into the jack it gets all out of whack and nuts and bolts come loose all the time. after the craftsman disaster i bought 2 torin 1.5 alunimun jacks. these jacks have one huge issue. the bolt that holds the front caster in always comes loose and or strips which causes the jack to slide out. ( happened to me bruised ribs )
ever since i have purchased the otc jacks and put them into service, all i get back from the drivers is on how sturdy, light and dependable the jacks are. the wider stance makes all the difference in the world. they may weigh a little more but totally worth every dollar.
OTC IS THE STANDARD FOR PROFESSIONALS AND HOME MECHANICS!!!!
