I used this to support a 5-cylinder Volvo engine (front wheel drive) while I pulled a transmission out of a donor car, then pulled a transmission out of a recipient car, then put the donor car's transmission into the recipient. So I used it quite a bit.

Pros:
- Very strong, overbuilt. could easily support a V8. total overkill for my 2.3 liter volvo (but that's what I wanted)
- Crossbar was essential - provides extra support if the car isn't pretty close to level
- Pretty quick to use once you get it set up for your car

Cons:
- The triangles on the end cannot be rotated. The crossbar has to be basically straight across your engine. It can't be used diagonally at all. This tool would have been much easier to use if that was an option.
- It took me about an hour to get this into a workable configuration the first time, since I have to keep flipping around the metal collars (removing the black plastic end caps) and moving the crossbar around until I found a position that worked. The nice thing is, once you do that, well, then you're set up for that vehicle.
- Paint gets scraped up pretty easily by the sliding collars that hold up the engine. But, it's a tool, it's meant to be used, so whatever.
- It's heavy, but also long and unwieldy. You may need two people to lift this up over the engine, just so you don't accidentally bang up your car.

Buy this if:
- You have examined your needs and want something super strong and overbuilt, but don't need the end triangles to swivel at all.

Don't buy this if:
- You're not sure what kind of car's you'll be pulling engines out of, or where the attachment points are.
- You are pulling very small, lightweight motors (2.0L 4-cyl motors, for example). It's overkill. But then, if you're safety-conscious and have money to burn, you might want overkill. That's why I bought this one.

Extremely sturdy tool. Easy to set up and very flexible for different applications. One thing to remember though, this thing is huge! Im talking overkill on most import fwd cars. But always better to be overkill than have a engine hanging above your head thats about to fall.

This worked out great! As it turns out I can use it as a push-up bar and a really nice one (easy on the wrist) what an added bonus since I would not use this tool much otherwise. I needed to change my motor mounts on my wife's 2000 Intrigue and was just going to have the local garage do it. I called three places and they were all very busy for a week or so and I asked them to get me a quote on replacing both front and right rear motor mounts but never called me back. My friend Nick said that I shouldn't spend the $500 they would charge, your car is too old just fix it yourself. So I was looking around and found a lot of options for around $100 with shipping. but they were square tubing and looking at the weight most were about half the weight of this product. Well I just got done replacing the engine mounts what a breeze. I was really impressed with the solid build and it is super quick to set up and use. So I don't know what I would have gotten charged but my guess would be between $500 & $750 so I figure with the cost of the new parts and this tool I saved between $250 & $500 on a Saturday afternoon. Sweet!

had been planing on buying an engine cradle for some time. decided on this OTC three point. We Don't always need to use the third support bar, but it is easily attachable, which is nice. As a professional automotive technician; it is Not the best support bar i have ever, but better than most. One down side is that the support hooks/hanger are not easily adjustable. Some improvement in design needed there.

Well worth the money. I have been a professional mechanic for over 30 years. By far this is one of the best engine supports I have used thus far. Sturdy, no flex and the attachments are quality. Yes, it is a bit pricey in comparison to what is out there, but you get what you pay for. This support is heavy gauge steel, quality!

I have not used it, but as a professional technician have used the standard square steel type a lot, and I'm not sure about how the 3rd arm just kind of floats but I know this: This unit is so sturdy, larger and heavier duty than I expected. A lot of these engine supports are just not big enough for some vehicles, I'll feel much better standing under a dangling engine/drivetrain.

I bought this unit because the OTC website touts their products American heritage. They go on about all their American factories where they build their products. When I received this package, the very first thing I saw was the label that said "Made in China". It works well enough; I give it 5 stars for it's functionality. But if I'd known I was going to get Chinese built tools, I could have gotten them for HALF the price here on Amazon, and they would probably work just as well. So I'm dinging them 2 stars for misleading the public about where their products are made, and pricing it so high.

This is HD. The price was right and shipping was free. This is one of those items that you don't use very often, but when you need it, it's a godsend. The cable is really long making it almost useless. I guess better long than too short. I give it 4.5 stars because of cost. It's well made but, overseas.
