Broke this kit in on a front lower control arm on a 2000 BMW 325. These tools made it stress-free and so simple. I used three of the five available pieces on the BMW.
Don't forget to grease these up (I used white lithium) before use! The friction without it can potentially do some damage.
(cons) The tie rod puller is to small to fit 4wd trucks but the 2 ear puller worked just as good.
These were much better than I expected and I am very happy with the purchase.
I'm not knocking these tools too much as I don't think anything short of a hydraulic press- which is what I had to use on it after I finally got the center link off the truck- could have separated the pitman arm joint. On the first pull attempt, one of the tips partially broke off, and further attempts were futile. I ended up using several Milwaukee bimetal blades on a sawzall and cut the center link off past the pitman joint so I could unbolt the idler arm and undo the ball joints.
The pitman arm tool was nice in that it had a cup on the end that allowed it to stay on the joint stud as it was tightened. The other tools seem to be of good quality.
I then saw this kit and decided i would purchase it out of sheer desperation, thinking I could at least try them all before knowing i was defeated. However when I got the product, i only tried the leaver type ball joint puller, and my ball joint separated easily! (one of the previous pullers i had borrowed was a leaver type as well!)
As yet ive not even used any other pullers in this kit! So am very with this kit
It was well worth the expense of buying the kit from the USA, and having it shipped here to Australia instead of getting my car put on a tow truck and having the ball joint separated at an automotive shop - then having the problems associated with getting the car back to me without the front rhs strut not being installed anymore! (ie no wheel).
Im looking forward to taking use of the other tools in the kit as well in the future.
