After 15 years as a pro mechanic, I don't know how I DIDN'T already have this tool... it is well made, compact, and fairly priced.
I read another review that talked about the arms not holding well; that can happen with any puller if it isn't set up properly. I simply locate the arms and rotate the entire arm assembly until it stops on the edge of the access holes. This gives the arms a bit more purchase and works pretty much every time if you apply the pressure smoothly.

Yes, I'd recommend it to a friend... but I'll be keeping mine safe in my tool box! ;-)

After borrowing one for years at work I broke down and bought my own. This tool has far more uses than just Chrysler balancer pulleys. I've used it to remove small bearings and steering wheels, as well as balancers on several FWD cars without having to lower the engine for a bigger puller. OTC is a proven brand and used by several manufacturers for their specailty tool needs an this product continuously see updates to increase the variety of cars it services.

I used this on 2.0L and 2.4L Chrysler engines and it works great. Definitely worth it's price to do it the right way.

Like every OTC tool I've owned. Worked like expected. On a 01 to 04 Grand Cherokee 4.7 you will have to remove the hydraulic fan. The hardest part was keeping all 3 fingers on the balancer as I first put pressure on the bolt. I simply made sure the top were on and as I tightened things, move the bottom one into place. Pulled it off with a box wrench (it was easy, no drama).
Some other pullers have magnets inside the arms. Might be a good idea. But there are reports that the forcing bars aren't always the right length for the 4.7s No an issue with this tool.

I specialize in Chevy LS motors. The aftermarket crank snouts tend to be on the larger side of the accepted tolerance and this causes the balancer to be very tight. Sears has a great $150 puller, but it only works on the truck balancers. The LS2/LS3 short balancers don't leave a lot of room. With a standard three leg puller you have to remove a leg and assemble it on the balancer. After braking three of these on the last one. I ordered this puller. Goes right on, has a 3/8" square drive making it very easy to use. The rod did bend, but it still removed this balancer with ease and I'm sure it will work several more times before it has to be replaced. The only thing wrong with this setup is that it doesn't come with a case. Not sure all the applications it works on, but if it works for your needs it is a great puller.

I needed this puller when rebuilding my GMC2500HD LQ4 engine. I tried to use several cheaper pullers to get the harmonic balancer off with no luck. This puller removed the harmonic balancer in about 5 mins!!!

READ BEFORE BUYING
This puller only get a 3 star rating ,it did work but with issues
Like others I had problems with the puller slipping off the balancer I was trying to remove
Now before you think I wasn't using it right I am a pro mechanic for almost 30 years
Here is why I think it slips its a two fold problem the jaws of the puller and powder coated
and slightly rounded on the edges The jaw edges arenot perfectly square sharp edges like other pullers
I am not even sure the jaws are made of steel The balancer edges where the jaws grab onto are very small
and not exactly square to the puller jaws After reading some suggestions in other reviews
there seemed to be two quick fixes to use this puller without it coming off
one is find an appropriate sized hose clamp and put the clamp securely around the jaws before you
start applying tension to remove the pulley or you can make small wedges to put between the jaws
and balancer to take up any space that would allow the jaws to move outward once pressure starts being applied
I chose the wedges and simply used wooden shims I had from some carpentry projects
I broke off the right size pieces and wedged them in before applying pressure they kept the jaws on the pulley
until the balancer came off which was not easily done by hand, I neede to use an impact wrench
so yes it worked but not ideal so it get 3 stars
The best solution I see for this is
DONT BUY THIS PULLER
buy the LISLE 51450
The Lisle comes with 3 magnetic wedges just for this purpose
I read reviews of that puller and it was very good and some people had no idea
what the wedges were for being magnetic I assume that puller is steel-a better choice
I only wish I had seen that

Sturdily made, works with most engines from the last twenty years, my only fault (and this might be partially mine for not paying more attention) is that, unlike the same puller available elsewhere, it just comes in a shirtboard paper box and plastic bag. I would have gladly paid an extra $10 for a blow mold case.
