To say that I loved this series would be a complete understatement!! The Out Of Line series will take you on an amazing roller-coaster ride of emotions. This series will have you feeling angst, happiness, heartache, sadness, anger & frustration and of course, love :) The characters are realistic and easy to connect with .From the moment I picked up Out Of Line, I was hooked. I fell more and more in love with Finn and Carrie with each book. And even though I am sad that Carrie and Finn's story had to end, I was given the best possible ending!

This series took me on the best possible journey. I am so glad I took a chance and read this series. The sun is finally shining and I will forever be a fan of Carrie and Finn. I look forward to reading more from Jen McLaughlin in the future!

This series was decent enough but it didn't do much for me. Carrie is beautiful young woman with a magnificent heart. Finn is a good man who just wants to be the best he can for Carrie. I was all good with the series until book 3. Fin is going through issues recovering from his injuries, nightmares & survivors guilt from the ambush. His dad is sick & dies on,y making things worse. The writing was in the wall that Finn & Carrie's relationship would suffer. I began to skip thru the book as I didn't really want to delve into that or the attempt by Carrie to move on with her life. While I figured the two would get their HEA, once my MCs have hooked up I don't condone ANY attempts to start up other relationships.

I absolutely recommend this boxed set! It and the author are amazingly fabulous!
Here are a few snippets of my review of each book....

*OUT OF LINE: "First and foremost....I loved this book. Like Love Loved it!! It had everything I wanted in a good book. It had the characters I love, a storyline that screamed trouble, and the romance I crave. Lots of steamy, forbidden, pent up romance. This author definitely has me hooked on this series and I am impatiently waiting for more."

*OUT OF TIME: "I am so happy with where McLaughlin took this story. At the end, I predicted how parts of it would go down, and even though I was right, I was still very pleased and even a bit surprised. I gladly recommend this book to those who not only love Finn and Carrie, but love New Adult reads as well. "

*OUT OF MIND: "This book absolutely tore me up and wreaked havoc on my heart and emotions. There were times I was hurting and crying over Finn and the hell he went through, only to turn right back around and loathe his very presence. As a reader you will feel every emotion available: pain, heartbreak, happiness, sadness, anger…everything. McLaughlin did such an amazing job writing this story and getting the emotion behind it out there for us to feel. To believe. To experience."

When it was revealed almost immediately that Finn was to protect Carrie while she went to college, I thought, "way to go," but I later read that while it was an obstacle for a very short period of time, that wasn't the biggest problem. Finn was a Marine whose father worked for Carrie's father who is a Senator. Finn was sent to California to watch over sheltered Carrie. He immediately falls for her. Unlike her parents, Carrie is kind and wants to help whoever she can. Finn sees how different she is but knows that he would never be good enough for her. Carrie and Finn fall in love anyway. Convinced he has to change who he is to be with her he takes a mission, and that in itself made me mad because we never really know who he's protecting because it's never said, that almost gets him killed. He comes home with PTSD, body broken, bruised and stitched up. He was the only one that survived from his group. So, not only does he wonder why he lived, he gets a little hooked on booze and prescription medications. While Carrie's father is pissed they were a couple, he lets Finn stay at their house during the holidays to recover. But when you have your fingers crossed that he doesn't have to go through anything else, his father dies. Finn goes crazy and tears up the room his dad is lying dead in. So not to give up a bunch of spoilers (as if I hadn't already) he pushes Carrie away and tells her it's her fault he was hurt. Knowing he was lying but knew that would be the only way to get her to let him go, he leaves her. Carrie goes back to California after the holidays and tries to move on. She has a new body guard who happens to be friends with Finn. So he knows she is protected. Finn battling the PTSD almost had himself convinced to end it all but decides to get help.Read more ›

I liked the first book but then I was less interested once the second book started. Never finished the third book. There is enough bad news about military personnel getting killed and injured. I don't like to read about that in my romance books.

Loved this set of books. I had already read book 1, Out of Line, but then this boxed set came out and it was less expensive to buy this than buy books 1 and 2 separately. So this review is for Books 2 and 3.

OUT OF TIME
This started out slow for me. For the first 30% or so of the book, it just seemed kind of bland. There was the hint or anticipation that he, Finn, was going to be deployed because it talked about him having to meet with commanding officers over a weekend period. So there was that anticipation and their (Finn and Carrie) angst. Then he gets his orders and everyone finds out he's going essentially on a solo job. There's the back and forth between Finn and Carrie's POV in the story while he's away. Through out the entire book, they are still keeping their relationship secret from Carrie's dad. However, at the end, it all comes out. Something happens to Finn while he's on this solo mission and that event leads to the outing of the relationship to Carrie's dad. This book was pretty good, but not as good as Book 1 just because it started out slow for me. Written well and you will end up liking it.

OUT OF MIND

So this book has to do with the recovery period of Finn after the horrendous event that happened @ the end of book 2. I loved it. You could actually feel what it's like for them to hold their relationship together while he struggles with PTSD. And see his struggles. I personally haven't known anyone with this disorder, but I can imagine it is pretty close if not exactly like this. And you feel for the loved ones b/c there's nothing you can do to help them. They have to want to help themselves. Good read. Loved this one as much as Book 1.

Overall I gave these 3 books a 5. They're written well. The story flowed easily.
