Make easy work of chopping onions, nuts and more with the OXO Good Grips Chopper, just press the soft knob and the blades rotate for even chopping. An internal soft bumper absorbs shock to increase comfort and reduce sound. Chop ingredients in the enclosed cup with its soft, non-slip base, or remove the base and chop directly on a cutting board. A tab rotates within the cup to prevent food from accumulating on the side walls. The entire blade cartridge can be removed from the shopper by simply unscrewing it, so clean up is a breeze. The blade is symmetrical for ease of reassembly. Spoon included for scooping ingredients.

I had a similar chopper that flew apart (I got it free with something) while I was using it... I was so bummed out because it was the best thing I'd ever seen for chopping garlic. This replacement is perfect! The size is just right for garlic or small amounts of herbs. I'm not sure why there were people struggling to disassemble this to clean it. I find it very easy to pop the pieces apart and rinse with nice hot water, let dry and put it back together. It's not an aircraft engine, it's a chopper. Before you buy and give a negative review please be sure to see it's a MINI chopper! If you don't want a small chopper, buy the larger Oxo choppers available right here on Amazon.
The good news: It chops evenly and efficiently, with a comfy plunging action.
The bad news: you have to take the entire chopper apart in order to clean it properly. There are multiple interior pieces and lots of nooks and crannies where food particles get trapped. And if you miss anything, it will mold in place (yuck.) We regularly needed hot soapy water, a toothbrush and about 10 minutes of scrubbing to clean everything out.
OXO has a deservedly great reputation for kitchen gadgets; this one needs a redesign for simplicity and easier cleaning.
Secondly I would like to correct the misconception that this chopper is hard to clean, especially the blades. The chopper comes apart in 3 sections. The first section goes over the sharp blade and through which the blade moves when chopping. The next two sections are the blade separated from the casing. This is done by pushing down on the black part on top of the white casing turning the unit clockwise which extends the blade from the casing and locks the blade in place. To get the blade out of the white container gently and carefully take the blade and rotate it counterclockwise and it will unscrew from the casing for easy washing. This blade is sharp so do be careful with this last step. To put it back together simply screw the blade back into the casing, pop on the blade guard and put it in its little cup. Clean up is fast and easy and you are ready to chop again.
Cleaning isn't difficult but could be a lot easier. For cleaning, the whole item needs to be broken down into 5 pieces for cleaning. I wash it by hand. Seems safe enough for the dishwasher top shelf but because of the way the blades are shaped I don't think dishwasher cleaning is thorough.
It comes with a little scooping spoon. The spoon doesn't sit well in the holes that it is supposed to rest in and keeps falling off.
I'm not happy that it doesn't chop red/white/yellow onions well which is what I bought it for.
I'm looking to replace it in the near future. I would recommend another brand because the quality of the blades, the price and the scoop spoon being awkward sitting on the product have been irritations to me.
I do give it a good rating for durability however.
