It includes a basket that can be used as a colander and a stainless steel bowl (complete with a non-slip base), which doubles as a serving vessel. To use, just rinse your leaves and drop the basket into place. Put the lid on and use the non-slip pump to get things spinning. Give it a few pumps and then hit the brake to stop the motion. The lid comes apart for thorough cleaning and the pump locks into place for storage. Dishwasher safe.

This is my third oxo salad spinner. I was disappointed to find this most recent one has a plastic insert that goes inside the stainless tub. I’m guessing that this saves in stainless steel production costs by not having to make that the high point that the colander sits on out of stainless steel.

Issue with replacement parts

The plastics inner basket/colander on ours cracked near the center where it sits and spins on pointed part of steel main body. Oxo has no replacement for that basket either for curtesy replacement or for customer purchased part.
Super glues are not food safe in any amount, and food safe epoxies are not made for immersion nor flex, so repair is not really possible.
I think it is reasonable since the exact same product is still made and sold to have a replacement basket part for sale -- yet there is none according to oxo support line.

I have been through 2 plastic OXO salad spinners in my 24 years of marriage. I feel this stainless will last me for the next 24! I marked off a star for "easy to use" because you have to put the basket in exactly right or it won't work. No big deal, but the plastic spinners didn't require a trick. Overall, it deserves 5 stars.

Great salad spinner—but with cheap materials considering the price

I bought this after using it at a friends, and despite the negative reviews.

The positives: it’s big. The metal bowl allows me to mix my salad in it after spinning, because the metal means I can put it in the dishwasher and easily clean it.

The negatives: for $70, or even $50, the interior strainer bowl and top should be made of metal. There’s no reason except the company’s cheapness that they’re not. The inner bowl isn’t as easy to clean and it will break sooner than the metal outer bowl. Same goes with the top, the spinner mechanism and lid.

I believe reviewers who have said it broke with minimal involvement from them. It’s like the designers gave up in the middle of creating a great product.

It’s still the best on the market that I’ve found this far.

You know how sometimes you feel like you can get a similar/equivalent product for less money? You cant. Period. I've had 3 salad spinners, and this time, I finally jumped in with both feet and bought the stainless steel OXO spinner. I can't believe I ever thought those other spinners even worked. The non-slip bottom, the balanced spinner action, the ease of cleaning, the quality FEEL of this product... are just so many cuts above the rest. So don't waste your years, or your money buying spinners that break. You'll eventually just end up with this one. Trust me.

I bought this purely on aesthetic — to me the stainless steel bowl doubling up as a serving bowl was worth the price tag. Although I've not actually used it as serving bowl yet... so. The spinning works easily, but doesn't dry 100%. My only other comparison is the full plastic spinner from IKEA. Compared to this, IKEA's was practically bone dry (think it's partly cos it's able to spin in alternating directions, making drying much quicker). For OXO, the inner basket is plastic so I reckon there's a chance of eventual cracks too.
