This is an excellent coffee maker. It gets the water hot enough for excellent extraction & it’s a really good alternative for those who use k-cups. You can easily brew a single cup of coffee & it will taste better than a k-cup coffee. This is a simple coffee maker for those who just want a good hot cup of coffee with no timers, etc.
-I used my Thermapen to check the temperature at the shower head & it came out at 200 F – the perfect temperature for brewing coffee IMO. I always heat my water to 200-201 when I make a pour over coffee. It seems to be the sweet spot for my taste buds. -Very easy to use. You hit the power button & push the button for 2-4 cups or 5-8 cups. It’s intuitive & easy. -The machine will automatically brew all the water in the tank so if you are making a single cup, make sure to measure the water for the cup or you will have overflow or not enough water. There is a small reservoir under the carafe/cup area to catch overflow. -If you are making a single cup of coffee, use your CLEAN coffee cup to measure the water in to the tank. Make sure the cup is CLEAN. You will ruin your tank with coffee oils, etc. if your cup is not clean. The same thing applies if you use the carafe to measure your water – it needs to be clean. You will just end up making the reservoir funky & get funky coffee. Use a clean measuring carafe/cup or a Brita filter pitcher. -The carafe pours neatly with no dribbles. It is stainless inside & out. It looks good on the table & keeps coffee hot. The handle is typical good OXO design – meaning it’s easy & comfortable to grasp & pour. -There is no clock or timer so NO, you can’t set it to brew coffee for when you wake up. -Use a Large basket filter for brewing a carafe of coffee. -Use a Kalita Wave #185 for single serve coffee. You could probably just cut down a small basket filter if you don’t want to purchase the Kalita filters. The Kalita are excellent Japanese filters. -I clean/descale my coffee machine once a month with a mixture of water & 1 tsp of citric acid. Citric acid is inexpensive & does a really good job of descaling. It’s the ingredient used in commercial coffee machine descaling cleaners. Run plain water thru the machine after the descaling to clear it out. If you have very hard water, you may need to do this more often. Lime will build up & ANY coffeemaker will not work properly. And your coffee will not taste as good. -I wash my carafe/carafe lid & brew cone with soap & hot water EVERY DAY after making coffee. If you want good tasting coffee, you need to keep your equipment clean. Coffee oils build up over time & get rancid, making your coffee taste funky. You can also get a buildup of oils in the carafe lid, making it plug, overflow & not pour clean. -Has a 2 year warranty.
1 US Cup is 8 US Fluid Oz. What Oxo have done is change the definition of a cup to 5 fl oz so they can say it's an 8 cup coffee maker. The quality of the machine is excellent but I am returning it because it does not fit what I wanted

We love coffee.. My husband drinks decaf and I drink strong dark roast.. For this reason we have been using keurig.. Lately I was looking for coffee makers as I drink more than couple cups.. I saw the new Oxo 8 cup and especially having the shower head and also having the compatibility 10-20 oz as well as 20-40 oz brewing option made me chose Oxo.. I didn't have so much high expectations as I love my Chemex .. however for practicality I wanted to give a try.. The coffee machine came within couple days and we are so pleased with this new addition.. I think we will put our Keurig to our basement..
Pros: - Very simple to use - Sleek design and small - not bulky - Functional - Great taste coffee -Carafe keeps the coffee hot for an hour or so -Single serve option has mug adjuster (fits small and 20 oz coffee termal mugs easily) - Single serve adjustment accessory is included -Easy to clean
Cons: - No time set up - No heated platform - If you are looking coffee for large crowds this might not be a fit (40 oz) max capacity - No water filter
For us works really great! We can choose our favorite coffees.. One of us can enjoy good decaf and one of us can enjoy strong french press..
No more k cups.. as we were both feeling guilty even we were choosing the most environmental versions..

This coffee maker is the best I have ever owned when it comes creating a perfect cup of home-brewed coffee. Both the large and small basket delivered the same quality cup of coffee. It is great that this machine can make a full pot or single cup.
The only issue with cleaning is that the pot does not completely empty of water. The lip on the pot is constructed in such a way that you can't pour every drop out. You can of course dry it with a towel or let it air dry.
Lastly, I wish the water was not heated in plastic. I would love a completely stainless steel water compartment.

I'm very happy with this coffeemaker, but I have two concerns that make me believe I might have gotten a defective one. First, when I'm brewing coffee, the lights in the kitchen and adjacent bedroom flicker. It's probably just because of the significant amount of electricity needed to heat the water that quickly, but I've never had that issue with any other appliance, including an electric kettle.
Second, the machine retains a lot of water in the reservoir after the brew cycle. I use 20 oz. bottles of purified water to make coffee. If I've dumped out the excess water, this amount fills it almost to the 4-cup line, but when I don't dump the machine out first, it fills to about 4⅓ cup, so it's holding almost 2 oz. of water. This also means that if I want 4 cups of coffee, I need to fill the reservoir to about 4⅓ cups.
I've emailed Oxo support at the address in the user's manual and received no reply.
Coffee didn't come out hot. As a result the flavor did not match the amount of coffee I put in the brewing cup. Overpriced coffee maker. Very disappointing after all the glowing reviews. I wish it were better.
The versatility to make one cup of coffee or from 3-8 cups of coffee is a very good feature. The taste is great. However, when making one large cup of coffee, a little water stays in the filter keeper causing little messes if one is not aware of this and careful.

We really wanted to love this product but were disappointed. The brew temperature was too hot, and our coffee tasted burnt/bitter. Our French press/pour over methods worked much better. We were happy that Amazon Prime offered the option to return it!

Very disappointed to receive this product today and see that these Kalita Wave filters are required for your best brew in smaller quantities. It will cost 33 plus Canadian dollars to order 200 of those filters.
There are other SCA approved coffeemakers that will allow me to use affordable filters.
small footprint...good size for 2...our first coffee maker other than French press, which didn't make quite enough... stays hot enough for 1-2 hours which is all I would want...very happy with purchase
