The OXO Good Grips Box Grater features coarse, fine and super-fine grating surfaces and a slicing surface. Grater is made of durable stainless steel construction with a soft, comfortable non-slip handle. You can catch, measure and store freshly grated ingredients in the storage container and seal with the included lid. There is a non-slip bottom ring on both the Grater and the container. The slim construction easily fits into a drawer for compact storage. Dishwasher safe.

First of all, this box grater has a slim profile, so it is easier to store. The most often used blades, coarse and medium are the wider surfaces at the front and back. The less often used fine and slicing surfaces are narrower and at the sides.
This is a sturdy object. The four cutting surfaces are made of durable stainless steel and the cutting surfaces are extremely sharp. The handle is plastic with a rubberized, non-slip grip. The bottom is rubberized and the grater rests solidly on a counter or cutting board.
There is a box container with printed side measurements and a detachable lid that fits into the bottom of the grater. This allows you to grate up to about a cup of food directly into the container. I thought this was a gimmick but I find it quite useful because the food is contained and measured at the same time.
The grater and container are top rack dishwasher safe.

Not wanting to settle for a generic grater ever again, I went straight to Amazon and searched for a best reviewed product. What appealed to me most about this grater was, honestly, the little catch box underneath. No longer would I have to tilt with one hand while grating with the other. Everything is measured too, which is wonderful for someone just entering the world of portion control. Additionally, the other grating/zesting options make this worth the money. I mostly just grate cheese, but I am getting more and more into baking, and some of these features become necessities in that scenario.
Easy to wash and clean, a bit clunky to store, but I would never hold it against this useful piece of kitchen equipment. Very happy with this purchase and would recommend.
They offer a "lifetime satisfaction guarantee". If you're ever unsatisfied with a product, they'll make it right. We've owned the soap dispensing dishwasher brush for several years. After buying 3 of them over a period of 5 years, I decided to finally use their satisfaction guarantee. Long story short, they eventually sent a new brush but gave me quite a bit of grief over it. So be warned that it might be a hit or miss with the Oxo warranty.
Anyway, this grater replaced replaced a more expensive Microplane version that we received as a wedding gift less than 6 years ago. The Microplane had plastic around the grating potions, which is what ultimately led to its demise.
The Oxo grater is built to a much greater (sorry for the pun) standard. You can tell the metal (steel?) is thicker and actually shreds cheese faster. The plastic container that attaches on the bottom is a great addition. Most of the thing you are slicing ends up there, so you can simply dump it into another bowl. Note: With the top on it won't lock into the bottom (something I wanted). Instead, you can turn the plastic bowl upside down with the top on and slide it inside of the grater. most probably already knew this, but it was an amazing moment when I figured that out.
It is dishwasher friendly. We have run it through at least a dozen times (probably more) and it still looks brand new. I hope it stays that way.
