Sleek stainless steel construction makes it durable, and the large, soft turning knob is easy to manage.
OXO Good Grips Locking Can Opener
The Can Opener snaps and locks closed to hold the can securely while you turn the knob. There’s no need to grip tightly to keep the Can Opener in place on the rim. Press the lock open with your thumb and it springs open to release the can.
OXO Good Grips Locking Can Opener with Lid Catch
Features a magnet that lifts lids off for hands-free disposal and ensures that cut lids don’t fall into cans. A window in the Opener top allows you to quickly align the Opener to the lip of the can and lets you see slicing progress so you know when it’s come full circle.
OXO Good Grips Smooth Edges Can Opener
Cuts on the side of the can, below the can edge, leaving no sharp edges on the can or lid. The stainless steel cutting wheel does not touch can contents and stays clean, while the lid pliers allow for no-touch lid removal.
For Your Can-venience

Update: We use this opener almost every day, it still looks new & functions perfectly. One thing I learned is to wash it, then put about 1 or 2 layers of paper towel for it to chew on. Rolling it through the paper towel will clean & dry it so no rust forms.
But I missed my old OXO Good Grips. It was easier to turn than the Kitchenaid, and it never 'caught' and left that one annoying edge, which the Kitchenaid did ALL THE TIME.
So three weeks ago I bought a new OXO Good Grips. What a piece of junk!! It isn't smooth, it catches all the time, it bends lids. Tonight, after trying to open a can of green beans and bending the can, the lid, and having the lid catch in TWO separate places, I threw the stupid can opener away. It even feels lighter than I remember the old one being. This has gone seriously downhill. No idea what I'm going to buy next, but it won't be an OXO product.
EDIT - added a picture. This can was perfectly round before I used the can opener on it, note how deformed it looks now. Also, if you can do a close up, you can see THREE spots where the lid caught, and a couple shards of paper where the label is getting shredded too. I have ordered a Zyliss. It can hardly be worse...
This last week, I faced opener after opener failing. The last straw was when my p38 camp opener failed. I finally broke down and got this (also new camp openers).
I feel like an idiot for waiting so long to try it. It works really, really well. It grasps the can firmly, yet turns easily and smoothly with very little effort. I couldn't believe how easy it made opening cans, especially after struggling with really bad openers.
Yes, it is a little more than those cheap box store can openers, but it is more than worth it.
Don't even hesitate, just get one. If you open cans, you will appreciate how much easier it is with this.
