Product Description

Style Name: Dish Scrub

OXO's Soap Dispensing Dish Scrub combines a long handled scrubber with liquid dish soap for convenient cleaning. A light push of the soft, non-slip button on the body easily dispenses a steady stream of soap for any scrubbing task. To refill, simply unscrew the back end of the handle and add soap to the reservoir. Replacing the cap when finished engages a tight, leak-proof seal so soap only goes where you want it. The soft grip is comfortable to hold and is non-slip, even when wet.The soft grip is comfortable to hold and is non-slip, even when wet. The durable, antibacterial scrub features a unique shape for thorough cleaning inside corners and along curves while scrubbing away baked-on food. For the toughest baked-on food, use the built-in scraper on the backside of the head. When it's time for a new scrub head, simply push up on the tab to replace it. Replacement brush, sponge, scrub heads sold separately.

Love their products but this simply doesn't work. The sponge fails off with the slightest bit of pressure. Did I get a lemon or what?

The unfortunate situation for this dish scrubber is that it has undergone an important redesign, yet still sells under the same moniker as its much more troubled, previous iteration. Many of the reviews here are for the older design. I know because I owned one. Yes, the button wasn't the easiest to push; yes, soap leaked from the filler/button when placed on its side; yes, it eventually leaked from the base (after 5 years for me); yes, the filler/button would catch on glass rims and flip open spilling soap from a full handle. I shared all these complaints, and despite them, I still liked the original design.

However the newest design now sold solves nearly all these issues from what I've experienced thus far. No longer is soap filled from the same button used to dispense. The back of the handle screws off and uses an o-ring seal to keep soap from leaking out regardless of the position the handle is stored. The dispensing button is sealed to the unit and is easy to push. They key here is to keep the handle fairly full, and occasionally it can be helpful to twist open the filling cap on the base to allow air pressure back inside the handle. The unit stays well enough sealed (this is a good thing) that a slight vacuum can eventually be present in the handle, requiring a lot more effort on the dispensing button before getting a shot of soap.

I've been using the new design handle for over a year now and I've had no issues with it. Most importantly, soap stays inside until it's wanted. Leaving the handle in any orientation for periods of time results in no leaks at all from what I've found. No more wasted soap. No more slimy handles, no more soap-saturated sponges. It just works.

On first blush, the OXO dish scrub looked to be much higher quality than other similar products I've used, so I bought one. Initially I was very happy with it. However, over 2-3 months of use the black rubber plug used to seal the detergent inside the handle shrank (!), resulting in non-stop detergent leakage.

If you're looking for a detergent dispensing scrub, try another OXO product: the OXO Good Grips 1063901 Soap Squirting Palm Scrub. I've had it for 4 months now and it's working wonderfully.

I was so happy when I discovered this dish mop and even more happy when I found replacement heads with the scrubbers.
My problem is that the last four I have bought came unglued from the base while the pads were relatively new. I don't throw
them away. I use them without the base. I have to put soap on them, but, c'est la vie. Anbody else have that problem? The
funny part is that the many I have bought without the scrubber remained glued together until I had to throw them away. Even
funnier, I will continue to buy them--and hope they stay together. It's a great idea.

A good dish scrubber is an item you will always find in my kitchen and the best I have found is the Oxo Good Grips Soap Squirting Dish Scrub which holds dishwashing detergent (I add a couple of drops of bleach along with the detergent) in the handle and has a button on the handle allowing you to squirt the amoung of detergent you need onto whatever you are washing in the sink! This also protects your hands somewhat! Great for glasses, pots and pans, and getting dishes ready for the dishwasher if you have a need to quickly rinse prior to putting them in the dishwasher! Refill sponges are difficult to find in local stores - even kithen stores - but you can ALWAYS find what you need at Amazon.com!

I’ve been using these for 4-5 years. I first bought the ones without the blue scrubber base. They worked pretty well. One time, they only had the scrubber ones, so I bought one. I found that it was a little stiff at first, but after a few days, it softened up and did a much better job than the plain yellow ones. The problem is that the blue base comes unglued way too quickly. Sometimes it lasts for several months, but sometimes only a few weeks. If I pull the blue base off, the glue that holds it together (or fails to do so), remains on the bottom making it pretty much useless.

I think part of the problem is the soap dispenser. Over time it gets gunky and leaks. I wish OXO make a scrubber with a solid handle (no soap dispenser) and a head that didn’t come unglued so soon.

01/02/16 Update: When this works, it works great. The problem is that the working window is way too short. When it is brand new, the blue part is too stiff. It takes a week or two for it to soften up. Then a few weeks later, one of the edges of the blue face starts to come unglued. So now I have a flap, flapping about. After another week or so, the whole blue face comes off.

For this price, it should work flawlessly. I am lowering my rating to 1 star.

Someone needs to make a scrubber in this general size and shape, but without the soap dispenser or the detachable heads and with one-piece heads than cannot come unglued.
