This thing is not an automated tool. However, it makes it easy to do things, extremely easy in fact, that would be really hard to do otherwise. Like, if you're making a stir-fry and you want some carrot, you can use this tool to cut very thin strips of carrot that you can toss into your dish and they'll take no time to cook. You can do the same thing with zucchini and add them into a pan with cooked pasta and olive oil and garlic and have a whole dish in like 2 minutes.

Maybe the best thing is that this device is fantastic for zesting citrus fruits. Now it's not as *easy* as doing it with a Microplane, but once you get the hang of it you get wonderful strips of zest at just the right depth, and you can keep them as long strips of zest or you can mince them.

Again, you have to practice using it a little, but I absolutely love the results.
