The OXO Good Grips Large Wooden Spoon is made of a solid piece of beech wood with a large, comfortable handle and a natural oil finish. Safe for non-stick cookware
Despite all the bright-colored, high-tech silicone kitchen utensils out these days, theres nothing quite like the good old-fashioned feel of wood for cooking needs. Crafted from solid beech wood, this strong 14-inch spoon is ideal for stirring deep pots of thick stew or for doling out generous dollops of macaroni and cheese. A natural oil finish protects the wooden spoon without contaminating food, while the give of wood means the spoon is safe for nonstick cookware.
True to OXOs creed of designing products that are easy to use for the widest range of users, the handle, which is flat on top and sensuously curved underneath, comfortably fits the hand. A hole in the end allows the spoon to hang where its most needed. Set in a crock, the large spoon forms a handsome bouquet with OXOs other wooden utensils, such as a smaller mixing spoon, slotted spoons, a pancake turner, and a spaghetti server. Wooden utensils are best washed by hand. OXO backs all its products with a satisfaction warranty, and will replace or refund any returned item. --Ann Bieri
Top customer reviews
This product does not look or feel like other OXO wooden spoons that I have seen previously in stores.
The handle is thick so if you are wanting a thinner handle you might not like the handle on this particular turner - it is thick! I like the way it feels in my hand because I can get a good grip on this handle.
I got this for my wok. I've got one angled turner but for some things I found I need a flat tuner over the angle - all depends on what you are doing. I might have to get a spoon now from OXO.
But I bought this reamer based on the reviews and I have to say, it's earned its place in our cluttered kitchen. It's true that it's not really that difficult to just cut a lemon in half and squeeze out the juice with your bare hand. But boy, this reamer makes it even easier! Just seconds is all you need. Plus, easy to clean (because let's face it, when you're as lazy as I am, sometimes you don't want to use a gadget that takes more time cleaning than it saves you using--I'm thinking of you, garlic crusher!). I just rinse it under the faucet. Plus, it's kinda fun. A good way to release a little aggression while making some delicious lemonade.
One thing I noticed though is that the wood is not completely smooth. If you run your finger against the reamer part, in the direction of base to tip, you can feel bits of the wood splinters. That concerned me a bit at first but it has not caused any problem that I could notice. I think it could potentially be an issue if you scrubbed too hard on this.
It's also "rough", but not splintery. Front edge split in 2 places 1st time it was washed. Not up to usual OXO's quality.
I would've given it a 5-star review but the wood feels slightly rough and dry after a few uses. I just gave mine a rub with some mineral oil.
