Angled to fit a pie plate's sloped sides, thin and flexible enough to slip under a pie wedge without breaking the crust, this tool plates a piece of pie without spilling the cherries. Its shape makes it ideal for quiche and other wedge-shaped baked goods, and for turnovers and other pastries that are too hot to be lifted by hand. The blade has serrated edges for cutting wedges without relying on a knife. Oxo regularly wins design awards for its Good Grips utensils with their familiar black, processed-rubber handles that offer control wet or dry. Fabulous Pie Server with nice thin edges!

When you make a delicate pie, it's important to use a pie server that has a thin leading edge, so it can go under the delicate bottom crust without damaging it. A big, clunky pie server will mess up the rim of the pie, including the side crust as it slides down and the bottom of the crust, giving you a mess on a plate to serve your guests. Before I bought this, my fat clunky pie server ruined so many pies that a neighbor began calling them "crappy pies." (Gee, thanks) People said "They look terrible, but taste great."

After realizing the server and not the cook was the problem, I bought this pie server. Voila' No More Crappy Pies! My pies with the many layered crusts came out of the pan beautifully, and friends began to see just how much work I put into the things, appreciating the appearance as well as the taste.

The pie server is a wonderful high-quality stainless steel with the usual comfortable OXO Good Grips handle. It cleans beautifully in dishwasher, and after many pies, it looks as new as the day I bought it.

If you're looking for a pie server, one that also serves as a cake, quiche or meatloaf server, this is it. It's not overly expensive and can even be dressed up with some ribbons and fake flowers to be used as a fancy cake server for a nice occasion.

OXO's Better Model

Whenever I am in need of a kitchen utensil, I usually look at the OXO brand first. OXO's products are well designed and durable and have proven themselves to me over the years.

When I noticed that the finish of my ancient, hand-me-down pie server was coming off, I first found this other OXO SteeL Pie Server . The very first time I used it I noted lots of flexibility at the point where the handle meets the spade. I wondered how long it would last.

Three years turns out to be the answer. I was mid-way cutting up a cheesecake for serving when it snapped.

When I searched for a replacement, I found OXO now offers two models. Since I'd already tried the other, I chose this one as it's replacement. And, bonus, it's a dollar less.

Compared to the other, the two main differences are that this one doesn't have as flashy a handle (less embellishment) and the connection between the handle and spade is not as flexible.

The serrated edges make cutting cakes and pies easy and it is plenty flexible enough to slide easily under the piece of dessert and pull it out for serving.

It is nice that the server will easily cut thru pie crust etc, but the first time I used it and was rinsing it off in the sink and slid my fingers down the side to clean it off.. I cut my finger pretty bad. So Id recommend going from the center outward (across the blades, rather than along them) when washing or drying. LATER: changing my product Title, and rating from 5 stars to 3 stars because it is so inflexible it just stabs the bottom of the pie pan and this makes it very difficult to get the server under the piece of pie, seems almost impossible to use, probably would be ok for cake on a flat bottom plate. Ive ordered a plastic-flexible server in hopes it will work better than this one.

I use this pie server for pies, cakes, and even to serve pizza's. it is of good quality, strong but thin, comfortable to hold, and used for generous portions. If you are on a diet and need to serve smaller sizes, it is difficult to serve smaller portions of anything sweet, but my company I keep do not seem to mind, but rather carry a twinkle in their eye as I serve them homemade chocolate cake, pumpkin pie, lemon meringue and tortes. It is a wonderful, affordable addition to my kitchen that makes serving such time consuming desserts a graceful treat.
