Cutting juicy fruits (like pineapples and melons... a must in florida!) on the side that has the groove all around it is so nice! You don't have to put anything under it because of spills.
It stays put and doesn't slide around. I do have granite countertops so this might help with it being unable to slide.
I haven't put it in the dishwasher to wash it... I always hand wash it and it is so easy to clean. I read other people having issues with warping and I think it has to do with dishwasher washings. No discoloration. I do wipe it down with a wet washcloth if I'll be chopping sweet potatoes or carrots before chopping other up other veggies so that it doesn't get an orangish tint.
I liked it so much that I bought another one. Now there's no excuse for anyone to not help in the kitchen!
I bought this 10.5" x 14.5" cutting board for several reasons. First, I have tried and faithfully use a lot of OXO products and I've always found them to be reliable, well made, and long lasting. I still have two can openers from my kitchen remodel eight years ago (two because we built in two food prep areas) and the blades are sharp and the turning handles still turn like silk. Second, I want to use this cutting board banded in red to indicate which one to use for raw chicken.
The cutting board has two useable sides. One has a channel for catching liquids and the other side is smooth. I will use that channeled side exclusively for raw chicken. That leaves me with a large, uninterrupted space for everything else. I've used the board enough now to feel that I can talk about the attributes: the size (10.5" x 14.5") is generous enough for normal kitchen food prep, the red end pieces make the board easy to spot in my cupboard, the board does not slip on my engineered quartz counter, the little raised feet are on both sides of the board so it's raised off the counter enough for easy pick up. I keep my knives very sharp and they cut well on this board. I still have to use good knife skills to make sure the blade doesn't slip and skip across the board. I cut up some pulled pork with barbecue sauce already on it last night and wondered if there would be any staining from the red sauce. There was none. Whew, I had been worried about that. I have put the cutting board in the dishwasher on the wash and heated drying cycles several times now and it has come out each time looking the way it did when it was brand new.
I honestly don't have any negative comments to say about this board except that I can feel some roughening of the surface already from my knife blades. I can't see the cuts and the barbecue sauce didn't stain so I think the surface can take the ware. I'm hoping this board will last for a while and will be as satisfactory as other OXO products have been for me in the past.
The cutting board material itself is softer than I've experienced with other cutting boards. I noticed after using it only once that it had a relatively deep cuts in it. On the one hand that's good, because if it were too hard then it would double the blades more quickly. And on the other hand it seems like it might possibly be a little bit too soft. I haven't had it long enough to know whether this will be a problem over time.
I bought this cutting board into different sizes and I've had the same experience with both.
I have 1 large and 2 mediums (I use the one with red edges only for meat). The large one is great for large chopping tasks; you don't have to stop and clear it as often as with smaller cutting boards.
