It's the biggest one we could find that would still fit (barely) into the dishwasher, which we thought would make it perfect since it would be sterilized by the dishwasher. However, after my writing an initial glowing review I noticed that placing the board in the bottom of the dishwasher (which is the only place it would fit) it came out warped! Don't do that. They should warn you. The plastic is so thick you'd think it would be safe from such a thing, but it's not. Just a warning! I'm dropping from 5 down to 4 stars.
Still, it's a good buy and very useful - no worrying so much about all the pieces of what you are cutting flying off the board. For that, it's definitely 5 stars. We use it just to avoid dirty counters.
Seems well-made and like the fact that it's a name brand OXO (unlike many others of the larger boards).
We've been using this a lot for a while and it continues to work well. No more putting it into the dishwasher but cleans up easily enough, although it's so big it won't actually fit into the sink so you need to hold it at an angle and wash it by hand next to the sink.
We are not using this for cutting meat products because we'd want it sterilized in that case but the dishwasher would warping it, so limiting it to vegetables, fruits and other things.
I'd still recommend it for most cutting needs.
I LOVE that it has no holes (i.e., "handles") for food to fall through or into. Those dadgum holes are one of those "features" that sounds good to someone that doesn't cook much but that serve only to reduce the usable cutting surface. OXO got it right by tapering the non-skid sides, so that it is very easy to lift.
The "juice groove" is not very deep, but it's deep enough to catch small amounts. It should work for something small, but not much more than that. However, if you want a deeper groove, then you need a thicker board. In other words, you need a proper carving board.
Cutting boards and carving boards are not the same, and trying to make a product that serves both purposes means that you'll have a product that isn't particularly good at either. This is an excellent cutting board. If you need an excellent carving board, then get a good, large, deep carving board.
I have 1 large and 2 mediums (I use the one with red edges only for meat). The large one is great for large chopping tasks; you don't have to stop and clear it as often as with smaller cutting boards.
The cutting board material itself is softer than I've experienced with other cutting boards. I noticed after using it only once that it had a relatively deep cuts in it. On the one hand that's good, because if it were too hard then it would double the blades more quickly. And on the other hand it seems like it might possibly be a little bit too soft. I haven't had it long enough to know whether this will be a problem over time.
I bought this cutting board into different sizes and I've had the same experience with both.
