It's a mostly decent corner spoon with a sharper corner tip that makes it ideal for scraping up all your remnants at the bottom of your pot/pan and while the wood is a sturdy chunk of beech wood it is soft enough to not damage your non stick coating. Couple of minor issues with this one. First off there's not much of a finish with this wood so if you scrub it with an abrasive scrubber the wood will turn really rough and you'll likely want to give it a sanding to restore it back to a smoother quality. Secondly - the stem is very thick and took me awhile to get accustomed to as I am accustomed to using thin stems on my wooden spoons. Still - for the price this is a very reasonable offering from OXO.

I like the saute paddle and corner spoom and use them all the time. They are both pleanty sturdy. The paddle shape works well for scraping and light chopping. The corner spoon is good at incorporating everything and can be used to break up food as well. Even though it is not recommended, I have put them through the dishwasher quite a few times without issue. Might quicken it going bad or splitting, but convenience wins.

My only gripe would be that I tend to stir clockwise, so I wish the corner on the spoon was on the other side. Or both sides for that matter.

I purchased this reamer to replace my 30 year old one that I took to our lakehouse....got to say I LOVE it.. it is just the right size for citrus and it has a good hand feel. The tip and the ridges are sharp and sturdy. i am impressed. i didn't expect it to be "good enough" to replace my old standby...I do want to say that I juice a lot of citrus and I have an electric thing my husband gave me for Christmas years ago....he was being thoughtful....THIS wood reamer is far better than electric. trust me And this particular one is excellent.

I have several wooden spoons I use daily, but our slanted paddle spoon finally split at the end and I needed a replacement. This OXO Paddle seemed like an excellent choice. When I received it in the mail, I was pleased. It had a beautiful wood grain and smooth finish (no slivers or rough edges). I hand washed the paddle for its first use and it became brittle and the wood became rough! I would expect this from putting in the high heat of a dishwasher, but not light hand washing with a gentle dishsoap!!

I hate cluttering the kitchen with little gadgets, especially those that only perform 1 single function. What did we need a reamer for, I thought, when we could just squeeze lemons with our own hands? That only takes half a minute.

But I bought this reamer based on the reviews and I have to say, it's earned its place in our cluttered kitchen. It's true that it's not really that difficult to just cut a lemon in half and squeeze out the juice with your bare hand. But boy, this reamer makes it even easier! Just seconds is all you need. Plus, easy to clean (because let's face it, when you're as lazy as I am, sometimes you don't want to use a gadget that takes more time cleaning than it saves you using--I'm thinking of you, garlic crusher!). I just rinse it under the faucet. Plus, it's kinda fun. A good way to release a little aggression while making some delicious lemonade.

One thing I noticed though is that the wood is not completely smooth. If you run your finger against the reamer part, in the direction of base to tip, you can feel bits of the wood splinters. That concerned me a bit at first but it has not caused any problem that I could notice. I think it could potentially be an issue if you scrubbed too hard on this.

How did I not buy this sooner? Was worried a wooden spoon would be too much maintenance - we hand wash and I'm always worried it's going to absorb water and grow mold. Use this almost daily for the past month and have no issues with mold or cracking. This is great for sauteing in my nonstick pans and also works great for sauces or chili. The angle corner works great at scraping pans but does not scratch like metal does. I have tons of silicone and rubber cookware and I much, much prefer the wooden spoon. Added bonus - great to give to a teething child when you are trying to cook dinner! :-)

In my 50+ years of home cooking I've tried glass, plastic, ceramic and metal. This beechwood is far superior. Welcome back to the good old days!
The particular shape of this cone is effective, handle easy to grasp, sharp point to dig into the lemon/lime, and nice deep troughs. But, BEST of all, the wooden edges are sharp and seem like they'll stay that way for a long time.
To get the most juice out of a reluctant lime or lemon, I still rely on something else before reaming: Stab a couple of tiny holes in the rind (so the fruit won't explode); stick it in the micro for a minutes or less, and then roll it hard back and forth on the counter to break up the tissues inside. The good old dinner fork still works well in a pinch!
