B.U.T. this acutally works well and is so easy to use!!
All you do is slip your garlic inside and roll it around. Sometimes you have to insist a slittle, but it is a lot easier to insist on rolling than squinting all over the garlic to see how the skin is rolled up and get your fingers sticky with the knife that hacks away a peice of good garlic when you just intended on peeling the poor thing.
It is easy to clean, just run water inside, use a dip of soap to clean it, rinse well and place back into it's box in the drawer once it's almost dry. The little holes in the box lets leftover humidity dry out.
This is a keeper!
It does take some practice to know how much pressure to apply, and how many cloves to do at the same time. I have found that the best way to peel a single, larger clove is to pick up the device and roll it between my hands. There is a static buildup that occurs while rolling that causes the thin skins to adhere to the inside of the tube, and they do sometimes wisp away and attach themselves to nearby surfaces. And yes, it is helpful to cut off the ends first. The tube easily rinses clean, and has a handy, vented storage box. This handy little tool has found a prominent place in my kitchen.

It does work with peeling lots of nice-sized sticky garlic toes
The big toes are in one piece vs using a chief knife as a 'smasher'.
