I've gone through 3 pairs of oil rigs over the years and love them. They are very lightweight and durable. It takes quite a bit to break them, i.e. ran over by a car. Usually, rather than break, the ear pieces pop off and can be popped right back on.

Start: 3 stars. A good idea, but probably not the best price/utility for a pair of wide and sporty sunglasses for men.

I really liked these lenses even though the lenses scratch really easily (-1) . I really did! I bought multiple replacement lenses every time there was a bad scratch on the lenses. They just looked cool on me (+1), and the colorshift within the lenses was fun for viewing the world (+1) . Then they broke (-1). One of the sides that go over the ear snapped away from the lense-portion of the sun glasses. I fixed them because they seemed to be designed to be fixed by hand right there (+1points for that design choice) . Then they broke a few more times. More easily each time it seemed ( -1). I fixed them each time. Then they broke a final time in my pocket. Unfixable because one of the edges fell out of my pocket.
Final score:
2 Stars. Possibly not worth its value because it will have maintenance fees due to quick deprecation of the the lenses which need to be replace.

The best wrap around sunglasses!

This is now my 3rd pair of Oakley Oil Rigs and I still get compliments on them. These are great for "all day" wear and the wrap around design blocks out sunlight really well. The only down side to these is that they will leave massive tan lines if you wear them to the pool or beach.

This is my third pair. I've noticed this pair is slightly more snug than the previous two which i really like. I love how these look. They're for taller guys because the frames are huge. I still have my last pair. The frames are six years old and it's on the third pair of lenses and i feel i can get another six years from them. I got this pair because i wanted matte black frames. My last pair i made custom which unfortunately Oakley doesn't do for the Oil Rigs anymore. They provide full coverage with an awesone, industrial look.

Great glasses. I get headaches with the cheaper brands (and some expensive brands) because of image distortion and micro imperfections in the lenses. With oakleys I don’t have that issue, there is no image distortion or imperfections in the lense. Leaving these the best glasses to me period.

Edit 9/17/2011 These glasses are still like new, im sure its not just the product but when you pay such money for such normal cheap accessories you actually take care of it. The quality is really noticed after 3 months of everyday use on and off the pop when unfolding the ear pieces is still there. The lenses are as clear as day without any scratches.

I returned my oil rig glasses for a few reasons 1. They were NOT made in the USA (price should have been lowered since they were made in China) 2. They are nice but not classic oakley craftsmanship (eg...seamless frames) 3.The box and bag didnt match oakleys website for those glasses 4.There was no warranty card from oakley or a business mail reply card. I have a feeling these are good quality fakes

Das Paket kam am 5.April 2011 an. Eine hochwertig wirkende kleine Papppackung (welche an die Pappverpackung des teureren aktuellen Magnum Eis erinnert) entblößt schnell nach dem Öffnen die weiche, braun/hellbraun gestreifte Nylon-Stoff-Tasche, welche die Sonnenbrille enthält und gleichzeitig als Brillenputztuch fungieren kann.

Die Sonnenbrille is genau wie erwartet und beschrieben interessant gemustert. Die Sicht hindurch ist sehr gut und scharf. Ebenfalls keinen Unterschied in Helligkeit von oben nach unten oder rechts und links im Sichtfeld. Sehr kratzfest. Die Brille sitzt bequem mit leichtem Druck am Kopf. Auch nach Stunden des Tragens bekomm ich keine Kopfschmerzen oder andere ärgerliche Symptome durch falschen Sitz.

Leider wirkt sie etwas billig, da das Plastik gelegentlich beim "Öffnen" der Sonnenbrille quietscht.

Ingesamt trotzdem eine gut verarbeitete Brille bei der sich auch nach 2 Wochen intensiver Nutzung keine Schraube löst oder das Glas verkratzt ist (obwohl auch teilweise nur so in der Hosentasche mitgetragen). Die Verpackung wirkt hochwertig und die weiche Tasche ebenso qualitativ und defintiv "mitnehmbar".

Wer sich nun unbedingt fragt, wer Berühmtes diese Brille denn trägt oder getragen hat, der schaue mal in die Formel 1 .B. auf Adrian Sutil oder in der Musikszene z.B. auf T-Pain (die weiße Ghost-Version).

I tried these on at the Sunglass hut to make sure they'd fit me properly and then went straight to amazon to save close to a hundred dollars off the price! They seem well constructed and even after multiple falls from my head, so far, no scratches! <knocks on wood>.

And the shipping was fast! An all-round, great experience.

The only downside is that they're a little big for my medium sized head. Not big in that they look big for my face, but just that they can easily fall off when propped on top of my head when I'm not wearing them. It should also be noted that the lenses, though they don't seem it in the photo, are indeed mirrored. Not a mirror like the guys from Chips used to wear, but there's a definite reflection given off by them.
