Melinda is set on seeking revenge for her sister's death. She moves to VA, taking on a new persona in order to get close the wannabe witches who cast a spell making her sister kill herself. However, her plans are halted when a coming evil is revealed by her protector... Her revenge seems small with the balance of good and evil on her shoulders. Will she succumb to her darkness, forever damning her soul or will she make the right choice for humanity?
This is a must-read series! I'm hoping book three is in progress because we're left with a bit of a cliffhanger at the end, yet it was still a great ending. 5 star series!
The Promise ended with the knowledge that something really dark was going to happen and that storyline continues with this book. To bridge the books, Cassie Jayne, Ethan and Jeff from the first book are on hand.
I enjoyed the romance angle as well as finding out the answers Mel sought. We did get more world building. Whereas The Promise centered on the descendants of the Salem Witch Trials, this world building is on a grander scale and I found this book more interesting because of it. But I wasn’t as thrilled with Mel, a smart girl in all other aspects, incapable of coming up with more than one solution to a challenge.
Definitely looking forward to the next book.
