About the Author

John Fund is a nationally recognized columnist for National Review. His work has appeared in the Wall Street Journal, Esquire, the New Republic, and USA Today. He has written several books that touch on Justice Department issues, including Stealing Elections and Cleaning House. He has also collaborated with bestselling authors, Rush Limbaugh among them, on their books.

Hans von Spakovsky, now a senior fellow at the Heritage Foundation, is a former presidential appointee to the Federal Election Commission, serving there from 2006 to 2007. He is also a former counsel to the assistant attorney general for civil rights in the Justice Department. He is a contributor at National Review and the coauthor (with John Fund) of Who's Counting: How Fraudsters and Bureaucrats Put Your Vote at Risk.

Insightful and Well-Documented, Yet Disturbing to Read

Fund and von Spakovsky have done a superb job chronicling the extraordinary lawlessness of Eric Holder during his disturbing tenure as Attorney General. Never before has this country endured an Attorney General so willing to deliberately ignore and refuse to enforce virtually any law with which he disagrees or finds morally objectionable, to encourage state attorneys general to do the same, to obsess over racial grievances, and to politicize the Department of Justice in such a way that is almost unrecognizable to many who proudly served there in the past. Holder functionally serves as the Public Defender in Chief, not the Attorney General. For those readers who might be inclined to chalk this book up to a partisan attack by two prominent conservative commentators, I would encourage you to reconsider. The beauty of this terrific book is that it is not filled with mere rhetoric; it is chock-full of concrete examples of Holder egregiously crossing the line in pursuit of advancing a deeply partisan agenda. It's difficult to see how any reader -- irrespective of his/her political stripes or ideological bent -- won't be a little disturbed after reading this book. At the same time, the book is a fun read because each page brings a new revelation, as in "No, it can't get any worse, can it? Oh my goodness, it really can."

After reading this, it's hard to understand why Eric Holder wasn't fired years before he mercifully resigned. Possibly his boss is further left than he is? The book ranges from his younger years in the DOJ during the Clinton years, to heavily armed agents raiding Gibson Guitars like they were a major drug kingpins. Ignoring the 2008 New Black Panther voter intimidation case in Philadelphia, And of course, the cornerstone to his illustrious reign, Fast & Furious. He makes former AG John Mitchell (under Nixon) look like a choirboy. Blatant favoritism, biased attacks, DOJ intimidation. Highlights his contributions to help redistribute the wealth (reparation), during the 1.2 billion dollar Pigford Scam. Too often Holder displayed incompetence, unprofessional contempt for those who question him and outright lied to Congress. Leads me to believe the entire DOJ should be purged from top to bottom. Solid, well researched informative read.

Holder should be in prison

Having followed the exploits of Eric Holder since his involvement in Clinton's pardon of Marc Rich, I was anxious for more details about Holder's career. This book did not let me down. In an eerie coincidence to what's going on with President Trump and the current DOJ, this passage shows how deep the problem is: "In 2001, one of the authors encountered such burrowed-in former Clinton administration political appointees when he first went to work at Justice as a career lawyer. They did everything they could to stop the implementation of the new administration's policies and law enforcement priorities, sabotaging, leaking, and generally engaging in unprofessional behavior that would get you fired if in the private sector."

This book strongly demonstrates that Holder is a liar, is corrupt, has utter disdain for the Constitution and the rule of law, and should, by all accounts, be in prison. Finally, this book exposes the largest reparations scam in U.S. history, known as the Pigford settlement, which was championed by Holder and Obama at a cost to the taxpayer of $4.5 billion.

I gave it the max 5 stars because it avoids the main fault of "tell all" pamphlets: John Fund lists his sources. I haven't done the exercise (who will?) but feel sure he kept good records and provides a road map of where to look, for anyone who "audits" his accuracy. I had no idea that the Executive Branch could delegate the power to ruin a victim's life with frivolous or unwarranted lawsuits. Who's going to oversee or inspect the Attorney General? The man who appointed him? We have several blatant frauds going on at the same time. Benghazi: the Attorney General never heard of it. Hillary Clinton "investigated" Benghazi and found herself innocent. Few people noticed that the Secretary of State appointed four of the five persons who served on her ARB (Accountability Review Board). Justice was not served. Nobody got fired. IRS doesn't even pretend to investigate, refuses to
provide key documents and invents childish lies about "crashed hard drives." Holder is not about to investigate, let alone prosecute, ACORN goons or Democrat bureaucrats. We need more knowledgeable investigators like John Fund. We need the voters to wise up.

A Strong Case that will be ignored

A thorough working of all the issues surrounding Eric Holder's politicization of the justice department and it's potential long-term effects on presidential administrations. The authors take an insiders look into the structure of DOJ, it's historical precedence of nonpartisanship, and how under Holder it has shifted from a dispassionate law enforcement agency, to an ideological powerhouse of Obama-style progressive agenda enforcement never before seen in the annals of American executive power. The authors take a point by point in-depth look at every relevant issue from the Black Panther voter intimidation case during the 2008 presidential election, a case which Holder and his deputies dismissed despite overwhelming evidence, including video footage, to the Fast and Furious grinning scheme, which unintentionally left hundreds of weapons in the hands of Mexican drug cartels, and which resulted in the murder of a US border patrol agent. It's all here, laying out a strong case for why congress voted to hold Mr. Holder in content on his refusal to hand over related documents. The book makes a strong case for Holder's removal from office if it should come to that.
