OBŌZ BRIDGER MID BDRY
While the all-leather upper of the Bridger gives a nod to classic hikers of yore, there's nothing old-fashioned about these stats: a pliable, extra comfortable collar; a lightweight TPU forefoot plate that preserves the shoe's integrity; BDry waterproofing; metal hardware and a lightweight, aggressive outsole. Unlike the waffle stompers of our youth, the Bridger's leather goodness comes with practically no break-in time.
Obōz’s anatomically-designed BFit Deluxe insole maximizes stability and support in their backpacking boots, hikers and lifestyle shoes, with a supportive arch and a deep cushioning heel cup. Triple-density EVA throughout provides both cushioning and durability, and a shot of urethane under the metatarsals adds extra protection to high-strike zones.
1) Plush foam at the forefoot
2) Structured heel cup & arch
3) Medium density foam throughout
4) Soft touch-moisture wicking top layer
GRANITE PEAK OUTSOLE
The quintessential hiking outsole, featuring: a nylon shank for stability, toothy side lugs that hug off-camber trails and 4mm directional lugs studding the sole. A lightweight TPU chassis boosts stability and prevents stone bruising without inhibiting flex.
1) Nylon shank
2) Supportive Dual Density EVA Midsole cushioning
3) A slim-but-powerful TPU Chassis protects feet from stone bruising and sharp rocks while enhancing torsional stability underfoot.
4) Toothy carbon rubber bottom tread for superior traction and durability
Obōz’s BDry shoes keep feet dry through creeks, mud, rain and sweat, thanks to three key components:
The first is their proprietary tape-sealed polyurethane film bootee, which waterproofs shoes but still let’s sweat escape.
Second, all of their BDry shoes come with hydrophobic upper materials, meaning the rest of the shoes won’t absorb water.
And finally, the textile lining inside BDry boots wicks sweat away, so feet stay dry from the inside out.

A tree is planted for is planted for every pair of Obōz sold, but not just any tree. Planted in partnership with Trees For the Future, Obōz’s trees create sustainable sources of crop shade, soil rehabilitation, food, windbreaks, medicine, mudslide control, timber and more for communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America… all while reducing CO2 levels and raising biodiversity worldwide.
Oboz Footwear is owned and operated by a small group of passionate industry veterans and life-long outdoor enthusiasts. They define themselves by where they live and recreate. Their name comes from "outside Bozeman." Their home base, Bozeman, Montana sits on the northern edge of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem--18 million acres of some of the wildest land in North America. It is here, in the Northern Rocky Mountains, from the Wind River and Teton Ranges to the Bridgers and Spanish Peaks, with incredibly varied geologic features, and abundant wildlife such as grizzly bears, wolves, bison, that Oboz is found. They've adopted the phrase "True to the Trail" as their guiding principle. As a new company, they're faced with direction-changing decisions every day. Filtering all of their decisions through the "True to the Trail" test helps them stay consistent with the vision that led them to create Oboz Footwear.

I took pictures of the used pair along with the new pair to show how the sole and leather wore for me. You can see the typical tear that leather boots have with the rubber tipped toes. Every boot that I have owned typically failed at this interface between the rubber and the leather.
I love the quick lacing mechanism too, one good tug and the laces stay tight while you tie them up. I really do not miss the hassles of getting the laces tight enough that all my previous pairs of hiking boots have always had.
Unlike other reviewers, I have not had problems with wet surfaces so far, and the soles have not fallen apart while hiking on granite gravel and talus, so I'm happy with the durability thus far. Though the comfort seems to be the most selling feature of these boots.
WARNING: These are really stiff the first time you put them on. When I first came across the Obōz it was at REI. One of the salesman happened to be wearing a pair and he assured me the collar would "turn to butter" after a few days of wearing. If he hadn't told me that, I may not have given the shoes a chance to break-in. Within about 3 days of casual use the collar was soft.
I picked mine up on Amazon for just over $83.00. I'm really happy with the Obōz Bridgers and wear them every day.
