O FIT System
Oboz built their fit philosophy around the O FIT Insole, drawing inspiration from our collective decades of industry experience and the countless miles they’ve logged on our own favorite trails.
It’s the synergy of these individual features that makes Oboz fit so flawlessly, enabling them to deliver unmatched and comprehensive performance no other footwear brand can.
O FIT Insole
Oboz's proprietary insole is what they’re known for. Molded to match the specific shape and construction of every pair we make, this purpose-designed technology delivers the kind of fit, feel and performance that’s unmatched in the industry.
The anatomically-designed insole maximizes stability and support with a supportive arch and a deep cushioning heel cup. Triple-density EVA throughout provides both cushioning and durability, and a shot of urethane under the metatarsals and heels adds extra protection to high-strike zones.
1. Low density EVA pod provides cushioning and comfort.
2. Medium density EVA throughout yields underfoot support without loss of cushioning.
3. High density EVA sculpted arch with the goal of placing the foot in the neutral position.
4. High density EVA heel cup provides support and improves natural cushioning.
5. Moisture wicking top layer helps keep feet dry and comfortable.
Sawtooth Midsole/Outsole Package
A thru-hiker cult favorite and classic Oboz outsole, built to be versatile, flexible and supportive.
The map molded in the bottom of the outsole features the Sawtooth mountain range near Sun Valley, Idaho.
1. Nylon shank offers added support between heel and forefoot.
2. Dual density EVA midsole provides supportive balanced cushioning.
3. Mud shedding sidewall lugs create stability and grip off-camber trails while conserving weight.
Top customer reviews
My Oboz mid height are great so I am hoping these lows are just as durable. They are as comfortable. And that is a good start.
I'm in China on business again. So lots of walking on uneven cobble stone/brick sidewalks. These shoes are holding up very nicely. 3 mile walk from the corporate apartment to the office. First time I did it, it was raining very lightly when I left. But it soon became a heavy rain. Though these are low cut, I did not get even a hint of squishy feet. When O took them off to change at the office, my socks were dry despite the heavy rain.
The slightly broader sole (compared to the light weight (zero) shoes) provides very good stability on the uneven surfaces. These will do very well for light duty hiking on easy to moderate trails too.
And the best part? No blisters.
I also highly recommend PhD's wool hiking socks. I am generally cheap when it comes to buying socks. But these are definitely worth it. They compliment any hiking shoe very well.
So I ordered these. First off, I have a wide foot (usually an EE if I can get it), but Oboz does not make a wide width in this shoe. However, like the old shoe, the D width is a bit wider than typical and with a bit of breaking in accommodates my foot just fine. The fit of these was fine once the laces were expanded all the way.
Further, the foot bed is cushioned with an almost perfect balance of firm and elastic. I don't feel rocks poking through, but I don't feel like I'm walking on pillows either. Overall, it's a great shoe for light hiking and walking.
Initially, I'd have given these shoes four to five stars. BUT, after trying to figure out the source of aching feet over the past three months, I've determined it's the heel support in the insole of this shoe. The heel feels like it has a "rise" in it (akin to feeling like a couple of stacked quarters) that jabs into the forward part of my heel. Initially you don't notice it, but after a lot of walking, you can start feeling it. When I take off the shoe, my foot aches. I've finally put all the pieces together when I noticed that the heel "lump" is right where the ache in my foot is. I'm going to try a different insole, but these are nonetheless the most painful but comfortable pair of shoes I own.
So, pay close attention to how the heel support interacts with your foot. It may fit you perfectly, or it may not.
After a month or more I have not been able to find anything that I don't like about these shoes. Although these shoes have spend most of there time on Cement. I work in a warehouse ( inventory, logistics ) and needed a shoe with a good amount of support. These shoes have the support I need and they are comfortable. These shoes are also made very well.
I will and have recommended this shoe and the Oboz name when ever there is the chance.
Caution this shoe is made for the outdoors so the rubber tread is not a no slip rubber.
