The sister was an added point, but I found myself not reading getting into her character as well. Something was missing in this book. Frankly, it may have been the opposite, there was just too much happening!
The title was perfect because he was obsessed, and he sort of read like other characters but less likable to me. He controlled her future and those around her to get what he wanted. He called her obsessed with a response in one scene and it was just wacko to me, not hot, just crazy.
The book ends in a cliffhanger, sort of for the next book, but I’m stopping here. I doubt I’d be able to like this guy. Like ever.
There was a plot and a completed book.
Kaia was a good character that helped me get through the book.
Blaise’s actions boarded on being an assault. Actually at times I felt like they were.
Cliche lines and actions to follow. A dance club scene. A jealous random guy. Manipulation to control her. The story line seemed familiar with other dancers not respecting her. Seemed like a lot of similarities with an old Sienna Mynx book, about a dancer, overbearing financier.
Subpar grammar, with some grammar mistakes.
On a positive note, the heroine was likable. She was just caring and overwhelmed. There were too many crazy cards stacked against her.
So we have Kaia (kyah?)and Blaise. Blaise is a billionaire with a company who is very aggressive with his business and tactics. He is taking care of his sister Aneka. She loves to dance and they see an American dance group to which Blaise lays his eyes upon in Kaia.
I feel like Blaise's obsession for Kaia was born out of no where. I know the "love at first sight" but this was lust at first sight. Blaise went to at creepy delusional lengths to get Kaia. I'm going to say it was rape. She repeatedly told him no in several occasions and writing that "her body was betraying her" does not say it's rape. Often when people are in sexual contact with one another, things happen that would happen in a normal sexual encounter. You get sexually aroused, and your body is waiting to climax. This girl didn't want to do any of these things. I just found it hard to really believe he loved her and just kept claiming her like dog.
There apparently will be second book. I just feel like this book needs more depth. This read like a simple alpha male romance. Cave man "me want Jane" and Jane " I think I like him.... Sex me to see first".
I'll read the second book.
Frankly, I think she had a little bit of Stockholm Syndrome. She slowly began opening up to Blaise and he to her. Plus Aneka's love of Kaia was another cinch in the relationship belt of Kaia & Blaise to keep them together.
This was a dark romance that I just could not figure how it would end. It was an interesting read and I can't wait for Forever to be published. Something tells me that Blaise has a lot more stories tell. I wonder if Kaia will ever find out what he did to keep her in his life.
