2013 Reprint of 1937 Edition. Full facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. The first chapter of this essay provides a soundly skeptical, mythicist take on Christian origins, while simultaneously asserting Lemurian and Atlantean sources for esoteric traditions. The next three chapters are organized according to the book's pattern: brain/spirit, heart/emotions, and generative organs/physical sensation. In the chapter on "The Spinal Column" corresponding to the heart, there is also a discussion of clairvoyance and mediumship, and in the chapter on "The Infernal Worlds" Hall additionally provides an exposition of color symbolism. The final chapter of Occult Anatomy is on "embryology," which offers readings of religious texts as perinatal allegories. It then continues with a thumbnail description of the seven-year cyclical climacteric pattern of individual human development.

Manly P. Hall (1901-1990) founded the Philosophical Research Society in 1934, a non-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination of useful knowledge in the fields of philosophy, comparative religion and psychology. In his long career, spanning more than 70 years of dynamic public activity, Mr. Hall delivered over 8000 lectures in the United States and abroad, authored over 150 books and essays, and wrote countless magazine articles.

Many of Mr. Hall's lectures have been transcribed and are available as pamphlets; others were taped live, and the audio recordings are available on CD's as well. He is perhaps best known for his 1928 classic, "The Secret Teachings of All Ages," an encyclopedia of the world's wisdom traditions and symbolic disciplines.

Today, younger generations are re-discovering the works and words of Manly Hall, finding that the material he put forth so many years ago is still relevant and useful today. Mr. Hall's hope for humanity was to learn from the greatest minds of all times so that we may solve current problems - both in society and in the individual - today.

In dealing with the esoteric, we often find ourselves facing down a tome wondering when we might have the appropriate mindset and the ever-elusive free time both such as to provide the opportunity to actually read the pages. For a much more manageable read, Hall manages to make the brief time we spend with him memorable, and in turn, I found myself spurred onward toward other larger works with the benefit of a firmer foundation. A fantastic introduction to Manly Hall, as well as a validating read for fringe types with an inkling of greater purpose to the thing we call life. Particularly fascinating is the topic of the liver, about which Hall remarks "to have a liver is to live." Hopefully you all will appreciate this volume as much as I did!

The beginning of this book covers the origins of Christianity which is definitely useful for everyone to be conscious of and then dives into the spiritual connections of the human body which is absolutely fascinating! It definitely shifted my perspective on my body and I treat it with even more mindfulness and gratitude. The body really is a temple for the soul (‘:

There's more information in these 69 pages than you can read in most 500 page books! because it (to me anyway, being a student of Occultism) provides the basic text, the things that are truly worth the study in this life, that pays off. Thank You Manly P Hall !!

Mph, is probably one of the best word-smiths or authors in U.S. history! His style of capturing the reader by illustrating the subject matter with words is always incredibly "dope"! I always look forward to his lit. There is so many books, essays and lectures, by him and I always enjoy his work!

5.0 out of 5 stars Introduction. Small, but Important.

Good introduction to where the physical world meets the esoteric world. Small book, but if you just want a taste and a better understanding of your current worldview, this is a great supplement. This kind of teaching should be more standard for healthy people.

A true gem and synthesis of occult knowledge in addition to the lengthy lectures in writing and spoken word of Mr. Hall. Knowledge is power... but knowing is force!
