I was provided with a complimentary copy of this book, through Reading Deals, so I could give an honest review.
I therefore recommend this for five stars as well as for kids 7-12 years old. It was so good to read how animals wanted friends too and to learn t be a friend if you want one to be a friend to you. I received this ebook for free and in return for being able to read this I am now giving it an honest review.
Super job K.B.! By Angela
THE BLACK CLOUD - the adventures of Mandy and Angel, two curious little colorful fish who swim out to the reef, encounter Sharkie who chases them with the intention of making them a meal, They hide with Aristotle, their friendly starfish, and feeling safe they enjoy `parrot fish, lobsters, clams, sea horses, sponges, clown fish, sea turtles, and many more types of animals called this reef home,'
along with coral, sea anemones, and whales and in the course of these brief stores they discover the need and the pleasure of friends - of every kind!
Two other stories fill this generous book - NEW FISH IN TOWN and ELIOT'S NEW FRIEND (Eliot is a coral crab and is new friend is Nestor the octopus. Each of these three stories teach children about the creatures of the ocean and relate stories that emphasize friendship and acceptance of differences and a really fun time.
Kevin Shaper writes so well that children will be able to grasp the ideas and have the adventures and fun he has set out for them. If there is one suggestion, that would be to include some illustrations in the book (the cover art by Humpty Dumpty is exceptional!). Yes, there are those who feel that children's imaginations should create their own images (and Kevin offers plenty of source material to accomplish that), but the stories would really sing if a few illustrations were included.
