This is his ninth album and an all-star effort featuring contributions from singers spanning from Madeleine Peyroux to Italian supermodel Carla Bruni and Brazilian vocalist Luciana Souza.
Renowned producer Larry Klein, the man behind many projects of Joni Mitchell (his former wife), Holly Cole, Mary Black and Madeleine Peyroux's Half the Perfect World is the mastermind behind Till's latest offering.
This guy, who is the most famous German contemporary jazz musician, plays so smooth and with such confidence and he should already be considered one of the most talented horn players of date.
He effortlessly lays down a groove that just captivates you.
He is smooth, jazzy and funky all rolled up into one classy sound.
Chris Botti and Rick Braun have nothing over this guy.
Everytime I listen to this cd I just say where did this guy come from and why did it take him so long to get here.
You just have to check this cd out.
This is a very evocative, soothing piece of work.
My favourite tracks are : "This Guy's in Love with You", Nick Drake's "River Man", and Wes Montgomery's "Bumpin'".
A must have for your smooth jazz collection.
Keep up the groove.

Rio

Awesomeness. Relaxing. I just ride to my destination in peace with this cd. I love it. I paid the ridiculously high price for this because it's played all the time on my pandora station so I just had to have it.

I love the selection of songs, up-tempo and smooth jazz and romantic love songs.
Some old standards, This guy's in love, still induces you to dreaming & River Man,
with a touch of the Blues. This man just senses what appeals to Ladies and the
guys are not short changed either! I have a tough time chosing a Till Broenner CD and labeling it the BEST
They are all best, you can't go wrong with his music...suitable for any mood!

Although I am by no means a specialist or expert in the field of jazz as an arcane, refined art for the exclusive few, I feel free to open up my deep musical sensitivity to the subtle, rich, intensive, and profoundly gratifying quality of this soothing, tranquil, and mature album! Highly evocative, gentle, and harmonious, the music of this album beckons and invites a receptive listener to experience the depth, spaciousness and fullness of pure sound of peace, goodness, and mellow, fine-textured refinement, hard to find elsewhere... When relaxing at a time of rest and leisure, drink freely from this pristine, revitalizing spring of fresh energy and warmth!

I purchased "Oceana" by Til Bronner for the all-instrumental "Love Theme from Chinatown" track -- which I thoroughly enjoy! Bronner's trumpet is soulful & sensuous. I didn't enjoy his vocals on the other tracks quite as much, but I recommend this CD anyway. Who knows? The other tracks may grow on me!

I remember the first time I listened to Miles Davis' anapestic experiment in modal jazz, "Kind of Blue". It was over a friend's house around midnight and "Flamenco Sketches" was undermining the darkness of the room. It was a masterwork then, yet even today, it touches something deep in my soul. If Kind of Blue represents shades of midnight, Till Bonner's, "Oceana" is the dawning of the new day, as it effortlessly ushers in a prism of colors and images. And though not revolutionary, it is most certainly evolutionary. It is the spiritual descendant of Miles Davis and Chet Baker. From Wes Montgomery's, "Bumpin", to Bart Bacharach's, "This Guy's In Love with You", to the hauntingly atmospheric, "A Distant Episode", Oceana is worthy of our undivided attention. Traditional jazz standards such as Jimmy Rowles, "The Peacock's" is treated with clarity of thought and intelligence. "River Man" is sung as a choreopoem in the spirit of Michael Franks or Mark Murphey. Bonner's trumpet colorings here, there, and everywhere, along with his single-minded phrasing, is reminiscent of Miles. Oceana is an absolute must-have for any serious or casual music lover. You will not regret ushering in the new day with Oceana.

I had not heard of this guy until I was getting myself a pedicure, and at first I thought it was Miles Davis. The lady who was giving me my pedicure said it was a German Artist. I really like most of the songs, but there are 1 or 2 that are my favorites. How often do you get an album with every song perfect.
