Product Description
Ocean's Thirteen (DVD) (WS) Thirteen is the new twelve in the third terrific chapter of Oscar® winners George Clooney and Steven Soderbergh's criminal caper series. With a stellar cast of criminal cohorts (including George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Andy Garcia, Don Cheadle, Bernie Mac and newcomers Al Pacino and Ellen Barkin), it doesn't matter if it's eleven, twelve or thirteen -- it all adds up to fun. So ... are you in or are you out?

George Clooney is one, Brad Pitt is two, Matt Damon three... well, let's just assume there are 13 collaborators in this installment of Steven Soderbergh's profitable caper franchise. We're back in Las Vegas for Ocean's Thirteen, where the boys plot to shut down the brand-new venture of a backstabbing hotelier (Al Pacino) because the guy double-crossed the now-ailing Reuben (Elliott Gould). If you look at the plot too closely, the entire edifice collapses (hey, how about those Chunnel-digging giant drills?), but Soderbergh conjures up a visual style that swings like Bobby Darin at the Copa. Other than the movie-star dazzle, the main reason to see the film is Soderbergh's uncanny feel for how the widescreen frame can float through the neon spaces of Vegas or sort through groups of characters sitting in hotel rooms talking (he shot the film himself, under his pseudonym Peter Andrews).
The film doesn't give enough time to goofballs Casey Affleck and Scott Caan (whose riffs made Ocean's Twelve worth seeing), although it provides comic stuff for a fun roster of actors, including Eddie Izzard, David Paymer, and Bob ("Super Dave") Einstein. Meanwhile, Ellen Barkin makes a fetching assistant for Pacino, and Pacino himself, his hair dyed Trumpian orange, is content to gnaw on some ham for the duration. Biggest puzzle about the two sequels is why George Clooney seems content to retreat from centerstage. Still, his Hemingwayesque conversations with Pitt are an amusing form of male shorthand, and even as the movie overstays its welcome during a long finale, Clooney's easy sense of cool makes it all seem acceptable. --Robert Horton

The plot centered on a business deal between Willy Banks (Al Pacino) and Reuben Tishkoff (Elliott Gould) going bad. Willy led Reuben to believe he would be his partner in Willy's new Las Vegas Casino. Willy double-crossed Reuben which caused Reuben to have a heart attack. Danny Ocean and the guys devised a plan to get back at Willy. The movie takes us through their plan to ruin Willy by bankrupting his casino. In the middle of this plan, they run short of money and go to Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia from the first movie) to ask for money. Terry doesn't like Willy so he agrees with one condition. The condition was Danny & the guys have to steal a diamond necklace that Willy has in a display case. Willy had received this necklace the year before as a prize for winning the Best Casino award. Terry Benedict wanted to get this necklace because he knew how much it meant to Willy. A sub-plot was that Danny didn't want Willy to win this year's "Best Casino" award so they set up a plan to make sure he wouldn't win. **Spoiler** In the end - Danny & the guys succeeded at bankrupting Willy and stealing the necklace. Terry Benedict tried to double cross Danny by stealing the necklace from Matt Damon but Danny was ready and the guy stole a fake necklace instead. Danny donated the real necklace to a charity in Terry's name. The movie was entertaining from start to finish !
Part of the fun of the first movie was to see all the things the team had to do to carry out the job. They did that and more in Thirteen. Virgil (Casey Affleck) for instance got a job at a company in Mexico that made the dice at Bank’s casino. He even organized the workers and led a strike. Another time they set up a casino reviewer by infecting his room and food with all kinds of nasties.
Second the challenges in this job are the greatest the team has ever faced. For one, Bank installed an artificial intelligence security system. Two, Ocean and Rusty (Brad Pitt) couldn’t even think of all the schemes themselves and had to call in their friend Roman (Eddie Izzard) for help. Three, they didn’t have an exit strategy to end the strike against Bank’s casino. Coming up with the challenges and overcoming them were all part of the great writing employed in the film.
To top it all off they had another great soundtrack to provide the perfect music for each scene.
Ocean’s Eleven surprised you with the scheme. Thirteen had that and a lot more fun as well as you were rooting for Ocean and company to stick it to Bank.

As a 60's child, I saw the original Frank Sinatra/Dean Martin et al "Ocean's 11" when I was a kid. Although I was much too young to appreciate their musical gifts, I knew they were a big deal. Their gift for making the audience feel like they were part of the secret has been replicated in the Clooney versions, which accounts for a lot of the success of these films. The characters are charming, the plot lines clever and the overall experience is fun. I have to think Frank would be pleased with these new incarnations!
Loop the middle other movie it just stops playing and Since I love this movie I’m very disappointed in buying movies from Amazon because there are always something defective with them. I’m disappointed I in some of the movies I’ve bought.

Got the post in 3 days but the box itself came broken slightly. The DVD has a poor picture quality.
I have a 52" LED TV so generally I prefer blu ray but generally DVDs are quite viewable as well. However, this is a very hazy DVD and the colours do not come up nicely at all.
Go for blu ray or at least, a different version.
