Will Bunch is senior writer for the Philadelphia Daily News – where he writes the popular political blog Attytood – and a senior fellow with Media Matters for America. He shared the 1992 Pulitzer Prize for spot news reporting in 1992 when he was at New York Newsday. His books include The Backlash: Right-Wing Radicals, High-Def Hucksters and Paranoid Politics in the Age of Obama, and Tear Down This Myth: The Right-Wing Distortion of the Reagan Legacy. His articles have also appeared in the New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post, Mother Jones, The Los Angeles Times, American Prospect, American Journalism Review, and elsewhere. He lives in the Philadelphia suburbs with his family.

When Occupy Wall Street started, I became aware of their efforts via Twitter and watched live-feed videos taken by the protestors themselves. This was before comments were ever made on major network news. If you missed knowing that 700 people were arrested due to the march across the Brooklyn Bridge, you need to read this eyewitness account of what exactly transpired. As I saw it, Will Bunch wrote it. Living in Utah, Republican Land, too many people felt that Occupy Wall Street was a bunch of kids without jobs just out to cause trouble and chose to live in unsanitary conditions. They failed to acknowledge that their protest was in behalf of the average American who works hard to provide for their families and to provide roofs over their heads. This is an honest account, a brief report of the beginning of the now national movement. It seems that these protestors who didn't run from the police, the rain, the cold weather, the snow, have the courage and dedication to try and retain the freedoms for all Americans. Please read...it's best to know what is going on in yor behalf.

I was very pleased to see something about Occupy Wall St. show up as a Single especially the events that took place on the Brooklyn Bridge. This Single is very short and to the point. There is a short history on how the movement came about and the events that transpired on October 1st including before the march began, what happen on the bridge, and after the arrests. You hear these coming from several different participants with different demographics. You hear from people who were located near the front, middle, and rear of the march. People who were mostly there to observe, those who were believers in the movement, and those who were unsure about involvement. You also hear experiences of those arrested and held by police. Overall it was very interesting and having different accounts helps shed light on the events. I did notice a couple of grammatical errors.

this is the first kindle single I've read. it's interesting that such a recent news event appears as a fictional story in such a short time. the writing is very vivid. I felt like I was there. talking to the characters. spending the day with them, as the day unfolded. i didn't really get the occupy wall street movement, but i feel i understand it more now. (i agree with other reviewer. needs some more proof reading.) well written, the device of telling the story from different points of view works well. It clarifies that there are different motives and reasons for the people involved. but also the loose common bond of the experience. It probably isn't an objective account - it's told from the point of view of the protesters, but it's good reading.

So this is a very interesting read, and while it appears rushed in a few places (grammatical errors, and basically a whole chapter where the background of the text is painted white making this impossible to read if you change the background black) the stories are compelling.

Now people are going to write this off as biased, which is true to a point; however, this appears to paint a more complete story of what happened on October 1st than any newspaper. The fact is the stories came from the people themselves, so of course it will be biased.

The author does a good job in painting a picture of what the protestors are enduring out there, a story not captured in the media.

Is it worth the 99 cents? Absolutely.

Occupy Wall Street is all over the news. The media has had a field day, dissecting it, trying to direct it, and trying to discourage it. Will Bunch wrote a book, not about the movement, but about the people. Not about their journey, per se, but about a moment in time. I throughly enjoyed reading about the different perspectives of people coming together one day for an event that would inspire the world. Attaching names and faces, and reasons, to the Brooklyn Bridge incident was what drove the story for me. The single keeps this event relevant by connecting it to past events. As someone who doesn't have a whole lot of money, I am still glad I invested my dollar into this single. If you're interested in people, current events, or historical perspectives, I feel you will enjoy this single as well.

I always enjoy Will Bunch's thorough reporting ("The Backlash" is probably the best book on the Tea Party to date). He's is one of those reporters whose attention to detail draws you in and makes you feel as if you're there. And the moment when the NYPD kettled Occupy Wall Street protesters on the Brooklyn is a historical tipping points, when the nation woke from a Kardashian-induced stupor to say, "Wait! You're arresting those people for WHAT?"

It's a cinematic piece, capturing a wide range of characters who were part of the day's events, and thanks to Kindle, I don't have to wait two whole months until Vanity Fair gets around to running an article. Very satisfying to get such timely writing, so quickly. I only wish it could be expanded into a book.

Living in Australia and having visited USA recently I could visualise the feelings among this crowd and their need for something to vent their anger on.
Of course the NYPD would always be watching and preventing them getting too far out of hand but the attempt to take the Brooklyn Bridge was a new approach ant they did create a nuisance but we're never going to win.
Another well written short story.
I will be getting more of these.
