"
The Octonauts: And the Only Lonely Monster has become a new favorite here. The story follows the path of the adorable, underwater Octonauts who come under attack from a sad, lonely monster and later help the creature find others like it under the sea. A smarter person would say there's a perfect allegory buried beneath the pages -- something about how bullies have fears like everyone else and how wonderful it is to be unique. But I always find myself just getting lost in the illustrations by team Meomi....It's great to find a book that appeals to both kids and adults -- even if the appeal is for different reasons....In other words, these are the best. children's book. animals. ever. I can't get enough of them...I can read this book for hours -- and have.” - SFGate.com

Beautiful book/poor digital representation
Book itself is 5 star, but when you buy digital edition, it's represented like opened book (two pages at once) without option to zoom in, which makes it difficult to read and to make out details of artwork.. Moreover high aspect ratio creates two white stripes above and below pages.

The Octonauts are busy going about their morning routines when BOOM! The octopod is UNDER ATTACK! They quickly form ranks only to find out that it's not an attack, but a lonely creature looking for some thing like itself. So the Octonauts set out to help.

It's a lovely story about friendship, with great drawings to examine. My 3 year old son loves that they head to the north (pole), then to the east (open the book sideways and read long ways), to the south (flip the book over), and to the west (read long ways again).

We have not watched the show, but my son still really enjoys this book.

My kids were into Octonauts at one point and got this for them. It's a nice hard cover book with paper pages inside. The pictures are cute and have nice color on them. The kids love to point out the characters they know and it was a nice starter to introducing Octonauts as books.

This is a terrific book. The hardcover is thin and it's a great size for my 3 year old's lap. The pictures are very cute and colorful. The story tracks the Octonauts trying to help a giant "monster" find other creatures like him. (Spoiler) In the end, after a big adventure to search everywhere in the ocean to find another like the monster, they were unsuccessful. Not to worry, though, the last page showed each of the Octonauts in their own panel highlighting what made them unique.

For the record, rating as an ebook and not the physical book.

Kids and I enjoyed it. They are, however, Octonauts fans.

A giant monster shows up. Wait, not a monster, a sad, friendly, lonely creature, searching for others like him. (Perhaps he has amnesia?) This prompts a search through books and ocean alike to find out what sort of creature he is, and in the process learn its okay to be unique.

Lovely illustrations, amusing content. Feel good kind of book. And based on the age group, the plot isn't too horribly thin.

A bit annoying to read on kindles though. The zoom function is... limited and when you have two pages turned into one on the "search for the monster's home"/ traveling the world pages, the result is a bit frustrating to try to read.

Overall enjoyable. But I probably wouldn't buy again, because the page thing irritates me.

We have read this book over and over--I adore the illustrations.

I asked [begged] Lego to make Octonauts sets; they cannot at the moment :(

If you don't already do this with your children you may want to: Take one or two books when you are dining out [not at a fast food place where a play area is at the ready for them]...so you have some reading time with your kiddos while you wait for your yummy meals...

Although not the BBC version of the octonauts it is a beautiful book, the illustrations are appealing to adults and children, the text is easily understandable for my 3yr old, if a little long for him. My 7yr old likes to read it to herself. A definite keeper and I think I will be keeping an eye out for other books from meomi. If your child is not interested in the BBC Octonauts don't be put off this book - it's excellent in its own right. A real must for a little bookworm and would actually make a good present. I'm very pleased with it, and I'm especially glad I got a hardback copy as its being read every nit at the moment!
