Unlike one review which stated this short story eas no more than advertisement for the Odd series I am relatively sure the short came before the books. I am also positive that the series needs no additional hype besides the reputation of Mr. Koontz and the pleasure the series has provided to so many readers.
One last remark: i need to apologise to Mr. Koontz for comments made on another of his many books. I had stated his use of fifty cent words when nickel words would be just as good. It is possible that I was suffering from a lack of oxygen at that moment. Perhaps the pollution registry was breaking new records that day. Whatever. I truely enjoy his words weaved together as an expensive and rare tapestry would be created from the rarest threads and the finest colors. With Kindle word wise allows exploring new words as easy as the pushing a finger over the difficult word on screen and discovering new meanings.
I highly recommend Mr. Koontz and his work to anyone who can read. Indeed, buying the last Odd book will lend a few difficult days to my life when my wife sees so many Amazon charges on our credit card statement for the month. The pleasure of the read far outweighs the discomfort of my wife's displeasure. Something I would seldom say as the sun rises and sets on my beloved's beautiful smile.
It's an interesting start to an interesting character. But some of it is repeated in the first full book. I don't think it's really needed, or tells us anything we couldn't get from just jumping into the first book.
This was a really good prequel to [book:Odd Thomas|14995]. It's just a short where we get to see Odd and Stormy spending some time together. They're heading to the fair when they get diverted by a ghost. The detour doesn't take long though and when they make it to the fair, we get to see the infamous instant where Stormy and Odd get their card (an important item in [book:Odd Thomas|14995]). Well worth the read if you're an [book:Odd Thomas|14995] fan. :)
