It was a nice story with good depth, but the delivery was a little immature, I suppose. Can't really find the word to best describe it. The voice swapped between the two characters' point of views, but the male POV was so girly, it was hard to look past. No guy thinks like that. No girl thinks like that, either, for the record. It was a lot of discombobulated thoughts that didn't seem to flow like natural thoughts would. It contained abrupt subject changes, and you can tell the author was trying to give some emotion and depth without spilling everything out, but it was too transparent. I could totally tell what the author was trying to do, which distracted me from becoming involved in the story.

However, it does deserve at least two stars because it was a good story line.

I loved Off Sides by Sawyer Bennett and was excited when I found out that Ryan's sister Emily was getting her own story in Off Limits. Sawyer Bennett has done an amazing job with this story. Off Limits takes place a few years after the end of Off Sides.

When we first met Emily in Off Sides she was basically a spoiled brat who did everything her mother told her to, no matter who she hurt. She has come a long way since then. Since her brother Ryan has freed himself from the clutches of his family, Emily sees how happy he is and wants that for herself. She has a moment with her sister-in-law Danny where she realizes that she misjudged her and that appearances aren't everything, it's what's on the inside that counts. She wants to change and become a better person, one who no longer lives by her mother's rules and standards. She is living in New York City and enrolled in Columbia. She loves the feeling of being free and on her own and as an added bonus she gets to live close to Ryan and Danny, whom she has become very close with in the past few years. Emily want to pursue a journalism degree which is not the path that her mother has chosen for her. Her mother wants her to become a doctor or lawyer, but Emily has every intention of standing up to her mother, even if it means losing her trust fund.

One day after interviewing one of her brother's teammates, she literally crashes into Nix Caldwell and his motorcycle, and to say he is mad, is an understatement. Despite the fact that he is angry, extremely infuriating and arrogant, Emily can't help the attraction she has for this man in front of her who is hot and sexy.

While I sort of enjoyed the plot and story line, I couldn't make myself like this book. Certain plot elements (such as the ex-boyfriend) seemed unnecessary and rushed to conclusion unrealistically. The writing was mediocre at best, and I felt that much of the dialogue was stilted, awkward, and cheesy. It was a quick and easy read, but I probably won't be reading more from this author.

I was given this book by the author as an ARC for a truthful and honest review.

I must first begin by saying I love this series. I mean I review Off Sides (Off Sides Review) and fell in love with the author. I love the writing and pacing of these novels. They are a MA audience but as an erotica reader...I got plenty of hot loving :) Holy crap Nix and his dominate behavior and all his biting.....*Fans myself*

This book is about Ryan's little sister Emily. As we know her from book one, she was a self absorbed, snotty, brat of a girl. She was hateful to Danny and was in on the break up of Ryan and Danny. When she finally saw the love Ryan and Danny had, she decided to change her life. So this book is her changing her life. She went to interview Linc, one of Ryan's hockey friends, for a journalism class she is taking. Well after her interview she kinda....runs over Nix....Linc's hot as hell older brother who is a hot mess thanks to the war in the middle east. She ruins his bike and is going to pay him off quietly. She leaves the run in shaken because Nix is burned into her brain!!!!

Nix is a grumpy, loner who doesn't do relationships. He has his brother and dad and a limitless amount on one night stands and he is quite happy with life. All is good because who would want a man with the shame he has????? When Emily runs him down he can't believe this stunning GIRL has effected him. He even agreed to take monthly payments...WTH happened to him. Well a few days later they run into each other. Not to make a payment but for a party!! Emily says she can't pay cuz her beeotch of a mom cut her off her trust fund for *GASP* declaring journalism as her major in college!!! I MEAN JOURNALISM....just awful!!! Well Nix puts her to work in his shop.

I thought this was a great read, really romantic, sweet, and with a lot of heart. I don't think you'd be lost here if you haven't read book 1 Off Sides (which was also sweetly romantic), but you do see the couple from that book again here. They don't hog the story at all, but I have to say that seeing Ryan and Danny again, seeing them deep into HEA and getting some totally sweet news about them, was one of the best things about this second book. It was just really good to see them again and touch base with a couple I loved.

But back to this book, Off Limits, it's about Ryan's sister Emily and her hero, Nix Caldwell. I didn't know if I could love a guy as much as I loved Ryan, but Nix was something special. Really, I'm going to love a jerk hero every time, I'm just programmed that way, but Nix was one awesome jerk hero. The thing with a jerk hero is that the author must ultimately make him likeable, even lovable. And this author definitely did that for me with Nix. He is snarly, kind of rude, closed off, even almost anti-social, and with a bite of snark about him. He was just yummy to me, his personality strong and layered, and he has the wounded hero thing working big time: a Marine injured in combat, dealing with PTSD, and Traumatic Brain Injury as well. A lot of hurt and guilt conflict this hero, making for a nice, deep, strong hero.

When we met Emily in book 1, she was quite a different character, but the brat has changed and grown up here. And I liked seeing this transformation. It felt realistic and believable, making her a very sympathetic and endearing character. Emily's ready to take charge of her life and stop letting her mother influence her and manipulate her life.
