It's a fun show. He's the MacGyver of medicine which often cracks me up as he seems to almost always have what he needs in his bag. If you like realistic medical shows, I wouldn't recommend this one. But if you like fun and silly while often touching, then this is the show for you.

I started watching this series for pure relaxation. The first season provided just what I'd expected -- was quite fluffy, lightly comic, an easy "filler" for a night with nothing of value (to me) available on other networks. But I got hooked on the cast and decided to subscribe. Good call for me. Each season has pleased me more, with its growing intensity of plot and character development. (The show even cast a friend of mine in a small part, and what a surprise that was!) But this latest season...WOW. I'll keep subscribing to this show as long as it runs, and I hope it's in for a long run indeed.

I liked it, but I would, as a medical professional, have to say if real life medicine were just this easy to do, everyone would do it! Since that isn't even a newly-hatched dream, we just have to accept the premise that money still buys everything, even an MD who drops everything the minute you call.....and always solves the dilemma without a bump. Would that was reality. The end, which I will not reveal, was too much of a disappointment to me to give this 5 stars. Good plots, story line pretty muddled, mostly due to the not yet real "concierge medicine" shtick. Otherwise, a fun watch, until it ends abruptly.

I never really considered medical shows. I’m a bit squeamish and they all seemed so life and death serious. But that was before I met the delightful Royal Pains. Okay, yes, the occasional episode can make me squeamish, but I love the characters and the comedy of the show really helps the medicine go down. That still rings true with season four of the show.

It might help that the show is as much about the main characters as it is medical mystery show. In fact, they seem to alternate. One week the medical aspect will be foremost, and the next the character’s lives will take center stage.

The show centers around Hank Lawson (Mark Feuerstein), a doctor who has started a concierge medical practice in the Hamptons in New York State. As this season opens, he’s just split from his brother Evan (Paulo Costanzo) who is the CFO of HankMed, the business that they used to run together. Now Evan is hiring some other doctors to compete, including Dr. van Dyke (recurring guest star Kyle Howard) and socially awkward but brilliant Dr. Sacani (recurring guest star Ben Shenkman). Meanwhile, HankMed’s physician assistant Divya Katdare (Reshma Shetty) is doing her best to bring the brothers back together while dealing with family issues of her own. And Jill (Jill Flint), Hank’s on again off again girlfriend, is still looking to leave the Hamptons for a medical clinic in need in South America.

Part way through the season, two new cast members were added from the ranks of the recurring guest star list. The first of these is Boris (Campbell Scott) who owns the mansion where the Lawson brothers live.

This series is a combination of drama (not action) and comedy. It is a great series when you just want to sit, relax and watch a short ( 40-45 minutes) show. Hank and Divia perform many "on the spur" improvised medical procedures to save peoples lives that may or may not be realistic. I don't know enough about the practice of medicine to know, but it makes for an interesting show. I enjoy coming home from a long day teaching school to 8th graders and sitting down for a break with an episode of this show.

I love this TV Show!! I have watched every episode more than one time and every time I see something different in the characters. The relationship between each one is honest and refreshing! I love Hank and who would not want a Doctor like Hank. Divya is such a strong woman character and at the end of season 3 we find she is willing to be true to her self and not go thorough with her arranged marriage. This season starts off with the brothers at odds and Divya trying to fix it! She has to call in the big guns in the form of Eddie R. Lawson. Any of the shows with Henry Wrinkler is great even if he is on screen for one scene. And then there is Boris! His and Hank's relationship is dynamic because of Boris not being so trusting and Hank being loyal to him and respecting this trust that Boris does give him! This season ended with Paige and Evan getting married and Hank becoming the patient! This was one of the best episodes! I love Paige! She is not the spoiled rich girl and she is just so fresh and honest and brings out the best in Evan! After having the perfect wedding with just the good stuff after one disaster after another and it just ending with Hank being in surgery it left you wanting Season 5 to hurry up because Hank is the thread that ties them all together and you can not help but wonder how they are going to all handle Hank being vulnerable!!
