I'm strongly reminded of Patrick McManus, except, instead of tales of the outdoors, it's the trials and tribulations of everything from everyday life to international politics.
Definitely a keeper, one that I'll be re-reading for years to come.

Even though I had a good idea of what to expect from Ben, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and diversity of the columns in this collection. His columns include musings on things that annoy him, misadventures while attending a friend's wedding, memories of a close friend who died far too young, political editorials, thoughts on literature and history, and whatever other topics he was inspired to write about "off the top of [his] head" that week. Most are designed to be funny, some are quite thought-provoking, and no matter how large or small the topic, all are masterfully told in a way accessible to nearly anyone.
The paperback cover isn't perfect; it tends to take a curl too easily. But the book itself is excellent, and I'm told that judging a book by its cover is a bad decision anyway.
