"A CIA operative must fight magic and her own feelings in Frieden's tale of romance and suspense...A quick and entertaining spy romp." -- Kirkus Reviews
From the Author
I love romantic suspense that defies simple genre and that's well-written and combines intrigue with romance in thoughtful and unusual combinations. Dan Brown's The DaVinci Code, the TV Series Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Alias, all factored into my imagination as I dreamed up Carla Deville's character and the plot of The Offering. I set most of the story in Santa Barbara, because I adore the place and miss living there. I hope you enjoy reading the story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

This book is for everyone who likes a good mystery/adventure and a good romance. Fast-paced and well written, with just a touch of the occult, it’s a fun read even for people like me who don’t normally read romance. The sexy scenes are fun and a little titillating, not pornographic or absurd, and the fights against the bad guys are even better. This is genre fiction, but genre fiction having a great time being what it is.
What I liked best about this book -- besides its completely involving plot and characters -- is the fact that it is so well-written. Frieden writes with a spare style, not wasting words on irrelevancies. Scenic descriptions and character development are there, but only as necessary to the story. It moves rapidly and smoothly. Capturing my attention and never let is waver, from beginning to end. Congratulations on an excellent first genre novel.
