I purchased these as part of my overall study plan for the GRE. I had about a month to prepare, which is on the more expedited side of studying. I mixed this type of preparation with the Magoosh Vocabulary app (both on Android and iPhone) in order to just clarify and brush up on some vocabulary. I have always struggled with math so I knew I needed extra quantitative reasoning practice questions and explanations. I think I used the Quantitative supplemental book more than the main book to be honest. When I did a cold practice test (without studying) I scored about a 134 on the math section- so I pretty much got everything wrong.

After studying with these materials and going on youtube watching Yaymath.org lessons on stuff I was really rusty on or things I didn't understand when they were taught to me back in high school to begin with, I was able to score a Quantitative 150 on the actual test - so I increased my score by 16 points in one month with using these books (luckily I'm going into social sciences at a top 30 ranked university so this is a decent score for what I needed). My verbal increased by about 3 points from my cold practice test, however that wasn't my main focus as I knew that I was going to get a competitive score regardless (I got a 161 on the actual exam if anyone cares). I've also always been a strong writer so my 5.5 on the exam was not surprising- I did not study for the writing part at all.

All around I recommend this product because it has all the supplemental books you need no matter what your strengths are, and it's made by ETS so the question structure and type are all incredibly similar to the actual test. I also bought another book that wasn't made my ETS and I could tell the difference between the two quite a bit.

I thought these were 3 separate books with their own content. Turns out, the 2 smaller verbal reasoning and the quantitative reasoning (math) books are included in the larger GRE general test book. So I basically bought duplicates. Not sure why this is in a super power pack bundle if I'm essentially buying duplicates of the same content. Do yourself a favor and only buy the 3rd edition GRE general test booklet (597 pages). Unfortunately, I didn't realize this until many months down the line and I can't return the two smaller books.

This material is OK. Each book in the package is useful on its own, but I wouldn't recommend buying the whole package. Between the main book and the practice booklets there is a significant amount of redundant or overlapping content. You end up paying quite a substantial sum for a fraction of original content in each book. If you just want practice problems, buy the two practice books. If you're looking for practice tests, you can get them for free when you sign up for the GRE online.

That said, the most helpful aspect of this package is in the practice questions. The two smaller volumes have many practice questions and even answer guides in the back to show you how to reason through the question.

Overall I would say this is overpriced for what you get, and ETS needs to do a better job of making sure you're not paying for the same material in multiple volumes.

I'm an international student and I used this pack to study before taking GRE. I only had two weeks to do that, so I basically used only these books as a guide to the official test. I had no experience before with any kind of standardized test, but this pack got from zero to average in two weeks. Besides, I didnt have any formal vocab that is required to take English test, but the book helped a lot to get a good ideia of what's on the test. Even though there're some difficult words in those books, I used a flashcard website in order to expand my vocab too. Maybe if I had more time, I'd probably score better, but for the two weeks I had to work with and with no prior experience with this kind of test, I think I got a nice score (297). Good luck for future test takes :)

Excellent book for reviewing for the GRE. Used it to study for 9 weeks in addition to the 5 lb. Manhattan Prep before taking the exam. I took the practice test at the back 1 week before the exam and I scored only 1 point off from what my actual GRE score was a week later. Highly recommend if you are serious about buckling down and studying. Questions are from old exams and accurately reflected the level of difficulty I saw on real exam.

To start with the downsides - overall the book doesn’t properly explain some question and you may end up feeling hanging after some sections. However considering a tight budget this is by far the best choice. It has helped me tremendously in understanding the format of GRE, and all the different sections. Yes you will need to search google for extra material, such as Khan academy, but considering I’ve had this pack for a month, I feel confident for my exam, which is about 3 weeks away. Deffinitely worth the money.

I bought this hoping that it had an advantage over the other works in the market, since it is published by ETS. This is not for test takers as it does little to prepare one for the test. This is more of a voluminous brochure on the test. It contains information about the test and the omnipresent practices tests. One can get this information from the ETS website. What is sorely lacks (and what is necessary for the test takers) are the answering strategies. For example the Princeton equivalent goes into great lengths to teaching the reader on how to approach the math section, what tricks to use and how to get ready fast. The Kaplan does a wonderful job on how to tackle the erudite passages on the Reading Comprehension tests. ETS: just says the obvious: read it, answer it, beat it.
Secondly, I was disappointed to find that the slimmer volumes on covering the Quantitative and Verbal tests have large sections that are already found in the other larger volume in this, so called, Power Pack. ETS has a monopolized scam in this market and it continues to exercise this monopoly with these publications. Not cool, ETS.

Nachdem ich bereits den GMAT habe wollte ich für nicht-BWL Fächer auch den GRE machen. Dabei habe ich natürlich ähnliche Qualität für das gleiche Geld erwartet. Leider ist das nicht der Fall. Das Buch kommt im Vgl. zum GMAT Material ohne Online-Fragen-Katalog mit dem man individuell und flexibel lernen kann und hat stattdessen nur ein paar abgedruckte Fragen (vergleichen mit mehreren Hundert beim GMAT). Außerdem wird einem durchgehend vorgelogen, das Buch würde 4 Tests enthalten. Nach bisherigem suchen gibt es aber nur 2 abgedruckte Tests und einen Link zu den zwei kostenlosen Online-Tests die sowieso jeder nutzen darf.
Alles in allem sind diese Bücher kaum das Geld wert, wenn man kein absoluter Papier-Lern-Freund ist.
