Overall a handy little guide that will do you well for the west coast pelagic you might want to take some day. The fact that it covers all the likely sea life makes it very useful in the field.
One thing I did not care for is that some of the pages had a number of images that I did not find so easy to identify immediately. The utility of a guide like this is how fast you can use it, with a fresh image in mind. The images are real photos but not the background; it seems as if images of seabirds were photo shopped onto a generic sea background. The result is quite usable but for me, that process makes the photos have some of the quality of painted backgrounds of museum exhibits, looking posed and not entirely real.
