Biofilm is a slime that grows anywhere water is present. The longer biofilm grows without treatment, the more resistant it becomes to cleaning. Biofilm houses and protect bacteria and other contaminants from standard cleaning products such as bleach, dishwasher detergent, sanitizers, and disinfectants.
Why Oh Yuk?
Oh Yuk is designed to remove these nasty contaminants that other chemicals can't, providing bathers with safe clean bath water. Jetted tubs cleaned after each use will have the same low bacteria levels in the bath water as your source or tap water.
Scientific Biofilm Solutions specializes in removing biofilm in all of its diverse environments, from industrial sand filters, to your washing machine at home. This is what we know best.

We ended up buying many bottles because more stuff kept coming out. We must have run it through 13 or 14 times using a lot more than the amount listed on the bottle (1/4 to 1/2 bottle each time).
Then we called the company and told them what was going on. They said that their product works really well on certain types of grime/biofilms but that we should try running some liquid laundry detergent through, as well. They said the laundry detergent gets rid of different things and that sometimes both are needed.
Well, that did the trick. Sure wish we had known this before spending so much money on this product, but now finally our tub lines are clean.
The Oh Yuk does get stuff to come out that other things we tried like bleach did not remove. That said, the best strategy is probably to run the laundry detergent through first, then use the Oh Yuk afterwards for anything remaining.

I have a jetted tub in my bathroom and wanted to start using it since it is winter and very cold here.
In the past, I have used bleach and Cascade Platinum powdered dishwasher detergent to clean my jetted tub - a few times a year I would run the tub with this mixture with fairly good results.
After reading about the bacteria, I did some research and came across information on "biofilm". After reading further, I started googling cleaners that would remove the biofilm and found Oh Yuk as well as several others.
Since the Oh Yuk was available on Amazon and I was ordering several other items from Amazon at the time, I went with the Oh Yuk. I used it for the first time today.
I was expecting large chunks of black gunk to come out, which, fortunately did not happen.
However, what did come out was a grayish/green slimy "goo" which clung to the sides of my tub while running the Oh Yuk through the system. I followed the directions on the bottle, but used more Oh Yuk than the recommended 2 oz since it was my first time using it. I probably used @ 6 oz.
Filled tub over jets first, then turned jets on, then added Oh Yuk. Let it run for an hour, drained, and cleaned tub surfaces with Comet cleaner and Chlorox wipes. The grayish/green slime was like a ring around the tub - it was pretty gross and took two rounds of the Comet/Chlorox wipes. Then I rinsed the tub thoroughly with clean water, and re-filled the tub with clean water and ran jets again for about 20 minutes.
This was pretty eye opening for me since I thought my tub's jets were pretty clean.
I will be using this once a month from now on to maintain clean jets.
The price is good, and I feel safer using the tub now!

Used this to clean a whirlpool in a house we just bought. Did it twice so far each time less gunk comes out so it seems to be working. Read morePublished 6 days ago by Disneyfannn
