Lots of positive messages, but a little obscure for younger kids.

I bought this intending to give it to my 7 year old, but after reading it, decided to put it towards the back of the bookshelf for a few more years. Maybe it's just me, but it seemed better suited for an older audience...some of the metaphors are just too obscure for a younger kid to understand, unlike the beginner Dr. Seuss books. It's still a good book, and not necessarily one that you shouldn't read to a younger kid, just not one of my favorites for the recommended 4-8 year age range. I agree with others who've said it'd be great for a kid graduating high school and going off to college.
