I purchased the 5' 6" XXH and 6' XH for catching flathead catfish. Both of these rods are great for that purpose. The 6' casts a little better, and has a lighter tip section. The 5' 6" is a real brute! I put an Okuma Makaira 20-2 on it and pulled 47 lbs. of drag and the rod had plenty left, it could have taken more, but I couldn't. The 6' XH will easily handle over 30 lbs. of drag. These rods are also very nice looking, with top shelf components, Alps guides and a really nice Alps aluminum reel seat. After trying almost every big name catfish rod on the market, some costing much more, these are my number 1 choice for catfishing if you don't want to spend a lot more on a custom rod. If you want to put the power to big cats for a reasonable price, your search is over.

Ultra light wt, medium action rod weighsw about 1 lb. Used it to bring in a 52 lb halibut. Lots of flexibility makes it a good downrigger trolling rod and its great as a jigging rod. Wish the butt cover came off with an X groove underneath to lock into the flush rod holders. Good price and free shipping with amazon prime to Kodiak, Alaska. I like it.

I had used this rod for a couple years fishing off of a ship. IT has proven strong and reliable consistently with Yellowfin up to 125 lbs and Mahi up to 55 lbs. After a few years of not being able to fish, I am now able to fish again. I did not think twice about purchasing this rod for Yellowfin and Mahi. My first night out, I landed a 80lb Yelowfin. I coupled this with a Squall Levelwind 30 and had not problem bringing this fish in. I have this rod in the 6' XH spinning rod too. It has continued to prove a strong reliable rod and at an excellent price. For $120.00 you cannot beat this rod. It is a very attractive rod as well. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who wants a good setup at a more than fair price.

I bought the 6'6" medium power for braided line 30-65lbs. Just realize that this rod is skinny and whippy. It is softer and thinner than a 6-12lb bass rod I have. It could be that it's for a specialty style that I am not privy to, but I'm trading it in for a more traditional casting rod for what's to be my 40# rig. Looks beautiful, but not for me.

Very well built rods for the money - equivalent to a Shimano or Penn that would cost double. Keep in mind these are jigging rods, so they have flexibility in them - the medium heavy still has a fairly whippy tip. Paired it with a Penn Fathom 2 speed as the Penn's are much cheaper than the two speed Okuma has. I use this one for bottom fishing primarily, but I like more action to the rod to prevent hook pulls when using braid. Very light and strong and I love the metal rod seat - rare in this price range. I'm thinking of now getting the XH for another big grouper reel I have . . . .

I have used the Cedros 6 foot XH casting rod for a year now with splendid results and it has become my favorite outfit for jigging ling cod. Paired with an Avet SX raptor reel, 65 pound braid and an 8 ounce jig, this outfit is light enough to use all day. Most of my fishing is done in 100-250 feet of water and to date the largest fish caught on the Okuma rod weighed in at 15LBS, 2 OZ. This rod has plenty of backbone and is certainly capable of handling much larger fish. Although it is rated at the top end for 11 oz. jigs, I find those weighing 6-8 ounces to be a better match. If you need to fish heavier jigs I would check out the XXH version. To date, my experience fishing with this rod has shown it to be tough, durable, light weight and comfortable to use. I go out fishing 15 to 20 times per year and catch on average 14 fish per trip of assorted sizes, so after 200 plus fish on this rod I am extremely pleased with it's performance.

So far so good. I have only used it one time so far but I have to say it performed very good. I caught over 10 Black Sea Bass jigging with this rod over the past weekend and it worked great and was fun to use. The largest I caught was 4.75 pounds and I had no problem getting the fish up!

The rod is well built and looks really nice. The issue with the looks though is that the forward handle is way too thin and your wrist gets ridiculously tired from trying to prevent it from rotating right/left when cranking fish up or even cranking heavy jigs/sinkers (16oz) when deep sea fishing.

I could have taped it like some people do, but what's the point of buy a nice rod and then ugly taping it.

Returned it, went with Ugly Stick Big Water instead.
